Aruba would be my last choice. Plenty of wind but unless you know the area very well there are only two spots to ride. On the popular side (where hotels are) it is flat water but incredibly gusty and the channel of clean wind gets very busy. On the other side of the island (you need a car) it's a nice spot with some waves but very small so 5 kiters riding it makes it too crowded.
If you do go, be aware of currents and the coral.
Barbados would be my first choice if the winds on.

hey looking at going to Progreso in Feb but can't find any good wind data.... everyone is talking great wind but windguru (yeah I know it can be wrong) says 65% at 13 knots for average??? What's a better site?
I was in La Ventana for two weeks last year - either on or off wind wise. My bf has been to Bimini (didn't have much wind) and Grand Cayman (had wind everyday).
Anyone been to Progreso?

If you're looking for a no crowded spot you can visit the British Virgin Islands (BVI):
Virgen Gorda Island and Eustacia Island are really good spots with no crowds.
http://morchildsplay.blogspot.com/2011/ ... sound.html
Virgin Gorda sound is very close to Necker Island, Richard Branson private Island
That you can kite without any problem.

Anegada Island is a kite dream island. Is at 14 miles from Gorda Sound.

You can take a plane to St thomas that is part of the US virgin Island (USVI) or to Tortola that is part of The British Virgin Islands (BVI) and them take the ferry that travel between the islands for a few dollars.
Another option that would be a more expensive is to rent a catamaran at the moorings in Tortola Island. This way you can visit all the BVI by yourself.

You are right, there are no direct flights from the UK, but if you go through Barbados, it is not so bad...2 direct flights from Barbados daily with
www.svgair.com , and if you like waves, you can always spend a few days in Barbados on the way. And although it is hard to get to Union, once there it is amazing!

Flights, or the lack of direct ones, do seem to be a limiting factor for many of us........
From where I am (Montreal) we have little choice at reasonable cost.... the best deals are all inclusives in either cuba or mexico..... these have limitations but are addictive in terms of cost because you know exactly what your vacation will cost.
I am interested in Jamaica but is it safe just to rent a car and drive?
Central America, Roatan, La Cruz , a variety of places in Belize all seem tempting but I know little first hand?
The Bahamas must have some really interesting places I'm sure, but I suspect its an expensive place to stay, Turks and Caicos is in this category as well.
Its 5 months away so there's time to investigate and plan ........

Try Cancun and Progreso theres asome spots in the Mexican Caribbean, and trust me theres wind!!!
lots in Febreuary speceally when the "Nortes" hit and way cheaper for airfare ticket then Caribbean Islands are expensive to fly in.
