Hi!

I am looking for a kite destination for a month, a month and half.
Around Christmas or early Jan. till mi Feb.
I will be leaving from Montreal, Canada.

Up to now, my choice would be Philippines, and Boracay would be my 1st choice, at least for few weeks.
Seems like a nice and cool place. Like I like them. I have done Belize, Honduras. Looks a bit the same. Some upper scale place, some backpackers ones too. and everything in between.

I have 2 concerns mainly: how to get there? From MNL to Boracay? Any experience?
I will have a huge lite bag (5' long/150cm). 25kg or so.

I am not sure how easy it is to deal with flying from Montreal. I had luck few times, but...
I am not familliar with Asian companies.

Second concern: accomodation: I have read a bit about it. I think I will find something easily.
I like small hotel/ hostel, but with my own room. Relaxed, chill places, backpackers oriented.
I am pretty sure I will find something I like once there.
How crowded it is at this time of year? Could it be totally booked?
I usually book something in advance for 3 nights.
Any good place for kiters?

Also, I am reading about kiting spots in the Philippines. I would not mind traveling a bit and see different spots around. I don't plan to go all over the country. But either flying to another area and find another cool village or 2. Or by bus, from Bocaray, try to see some other good spots.

Caticlan ist the nearest airport to Boracay. Small, problem with luggage.
You can send all with cargo from MNL to Caticlan. Simple, quick and cheaper.
Or fly to Kalibo, bigger planes, less hassle with sports gear...
Air Asia has good prices. Also check to fly via Clark instead of MNL, they have good offers.

Get to Boracay, rent a room for few days, then look around. Lots of places to stay. Meet people, ask around. Kitebeach is small and all people are there...meet them and you will get all info you need about places.

Maybe see you there mid of Feb.

Figured I would reuse this post. I am looking at Boracay Feb/March. My issue this time is Chinese New Year. it falls on 2/9, I hear don't travel there week before and week after. Eats up a good month of Boracay. I am on business in Macau and it will dictate when I go to Boracay.
I am reading all the threads I can to figure out accommodations, travel, kites, etc....
Experienced riders, does wind blow into March?
I am 220lb advanced rider. what kite sizes? 10, 13, 17?
It looks like flying into Kalibo is not that big of deal if it is only 1.5 hours, looks like $40 each way?
Accommodations looked filled in February.
When is KTA, and is that a issue for a traveling rider?

Thanks and hope to see some of you there. I went to Mui Ne in December and had a good time if anybody needs help on that, as riders here helped on that trip.
