Croatia / Turkey Suggestions for July/August with Family

Postby marqueemark » Tue May 28, 2013 3:23 pm

I am planning a 2 week family holiday for July / August with my wife and 2 young children (ages 5 and 3 ). Since this is primarily a family holiday my kiting time will be limited to 2-3 hours per day.

Can anyone recommend a hotel with swimming pool which is located within walking distance of the kiting zone.

I am thinking of going to Croatian or Turkey (as I have never been before) but I am open to suggestions for anywhere else that is within 5 hours of the UK

For Turkey,
Alacati, Izmir
Gokceada
Bozcada

I dont know any specific hotel but there are plenty hotels around and near by the beaches. Last two places are islands in agean sea..

hello!
And what do you choose? :)
I will go to Croatia, Island Brac, Bol. And I hope it will windy :thumb:
I also travel with children (1 and 12 y.o.), and we chose the apartments.
My trip will begin soon (16.06.13) :thumb: So I will post reports after.

Good Luck!

PS sorry for my bad English

In Alacati the kite zone is horrible. I would not recommend.

I would recommend Gokova - http://www.alwayswindy.com/blog/gokova- ... ays-windy/

20 Minutes walk from your hotel, cheap, very family friendly and quiet, short flight from the UK ( http://www.alwayswindy.com/blog/gokova-getting-here/ ) and guaranteed windy, everyday.

And if you are looking for a great instructor in Gokova test out Ejder Ginyol at kiteboardgokova.com .

Hi,
I've been to Croatia a few times for kiteboarding. Bol, Orebic and Nin. None of these places are 'wind- sure'. In case you go there make sure to have a light-wind KITE with you. You cannot find the accommodation you desire in walking distance from the spots but you can find apartments.....No sandy beaches for the kids.
In case you are really flexible: at Tarifa your kids can go crazy on the sandy beaches and you'll enjoy the windy days....but hotel with swimming pool in walking distance will be hard to find even here (if there are any).
Cheers
