Hey guys,

Im planning my holiday in greece.

Do you know any good places for kitesurfing there. I was looking for a place on chalkidiki, or somewhere near.

I've been to lefkada, but wanted to change places this year.

northern Greece is not that windy during summer months.except some thermals(14m+ kite) dont expect anything better.in the other side Cyclades(Paros.Naxos,Mykonos) is windy(north winds called Meltemi) and more south to Karpathos or hole Rhodes specialy to Prassonissi but its very crowed.

Have suddenly an extra week holiday. There is a direct plane from my place (cheapest to warm places) to Chania on Crete. Does the northern wind (Meltemi) reach the beaches on north shore of western Crete in early august? The weathermap on http://yr.no indicates so.

It does but very light...thermals do work better but you need big kites(13m+)

Thats almost correct but there is a place with stronger north wind which is usually very gusty though. It is in Kisamos area. When there is north wind in the Aegian there also north wind in that spot but a bit lighter. Here is a video from the spot(Kalyviani spot near the port of Kisamos):
I am from Chania, it is a great place for holidays and you will have a good time, but not the best for kitesurfing-holidays. You can get some good north wind days in Kisamos area near Chania and also usually there are a few nice west wind days in Chania during August. If you decide to take the flight to Chania I recommend size 11-12 for one kite quiver or for a two kite quiver take a 9m and a 12m. (this sizes apply for an average 80kg rider with normal TT board).
