Portugal West Coast Wind & Spots Question

Postby puchanix » Thu Jul 25, 2013 11:20 am

Hello,

I just arrived to Guincho (beautiful spot!). During the summer it is supposed to work well with Northerly wind (supplemented with the afternoon thermal). Two questions:

1) The forecast for the weekend switches to a SouthEasterly 10-14 knots. Would Guincho still work in those conditions or are there other spots driving distance (either in Algarve or NorthWest) that are likely to work better with a SE wind?

2) We want to check out few of the other spots in the coast. Considering Peniche, Figueira de Foz, Aveiro, Porto & Viama do Castelo. We only have time to go to a couple of spots. Which should we choose? We prefer waves (although realize they are small during the summer) and a nice town nearby (ideally with a nice hotel). Also, is Nazare worth a visit?

Greatly appreciate the advice!

Obrigado.

Ariel.
