Rental in the New York area............

I have a stop over in New York next week, and it would be nice to do some kitesurfing.

I am an experienced kitesurfer and would like to rent the gear on the spot (TT or wave). I am looking for a spot wich can be reached by train from down town NYC within 1,5-2 hrs.

Any suggestions.....................

NY kite center I think is the big name there. My friend tells me the guys there are cool and I think it's not very far. I know getting around on the trains there and out towards Jones beach might be a short distance but maybe a lot of travel time if you have to switch trains. I think they are based out of Sheepshead Bay or near there. From their posts on facebook it looks like they shuttle people out by boat or ski to some pretty awesome slicks. As far as getting to the coast for some waves, I don't know if the trains stop anywhere near there. You might want to rent a vehicle.
