Cape Town

Postby Olga » Tue Nov 05, 2013 9:08 pm

Hello!
I'm planning my trip to SA in January-February.
My friends come just for a short period but I'd like to stay a bit longer.
That is why I thought of staying at some kite station/camp which usually allows to meet other people sharing the same interest and to find some other entertainment except for the kitesurfing.
But I cannot find something of a kind in Cape town. And there is a question of safety as well.
Could you advise please?
And where to go/what else to see in CT (or Langebaan)?
I still cannot understand how safe is the city regarding all the articles you can find on the safety questions in SA

Thank you

Hey Olga, there is no better choice than Cape Town for a kiting holiday!

As far as kite friendly accommodation you can try SaltyCrax Backpackers, Windchasers and The Endless Summer Beachhouse. All run by kiters, for kiters. You can find full details here http://capetown-watersports.com/accommo ... cape-town/

Blouberg, Muizenberg and Langebaan have a wide range of kite spots, activities and restaurants which are all super affordable due to SA's weak currency.

As to safety, If you look back to the 2010 world cup and the amount of tourists in Cape Town since then, you will see that Cape Town is geared towards giving tourists a fun, safe experience.

You can find all other info here http://capetown-watersports.com/

Also check out Cape Town Kite Club (http://www.capetownkiteclub.com) ... that is a funky kitesurfer/windsurfer lodge in Big Bay. Location is good as you can walk to the kitespot and to the bars/supermarket so you can save money on car rental.

Hi
I am going to be in Cape Town for jan/feb 2013 staying at Cape Town Kite Club.
As a BKSA coach and having previously stayed 4 seasons in Cape Town I will be offering private guiding and coaching sessions, (half days+) so if you want any tips or simply shown around the spots please get in touch.
All info will be on the website once details are locked in http://www.pastyadventures.co.uk
I am also hoping to run a couple of Wave Clinics in conjunction with the local schools/shops.
See you in the Cape :D
Lee
