OK...look at intheloop.com.au website based out of Townsville....Marvin the owner will assist you for Barrier Reef advice. Be careful as they have stingers in the water and certain spots along the coast there have crocodiles around the river mouthes.

For the Gold Coast touch base with Jon at surffx.com.au. They will set you straight with kiting along the Gold Coast. Some good spots right at the Gold Coast and no stingers....good surf kiting.

For Melbourne, St Kilda (on the bay) is the main kiting spot with 4 or 5 companies teaching. Only a couple of KM's from Melbourne City too. Further along the Bay Brighton, Hampton and way down perhaps Rosebud. You can research these to see what suits. In Melbourne no nasties in the water either. Look at bay winds.com.au to check the winds.

Have Fun.

You generally wouldnt go on kite safaris around Great Barrier Reef in Feb.

The season is May June July August kind of time.

2 deadly jellyfish are in water during summer although I know some kiters still ride in Port Douglas anyway with part or full stinger suits anyway

check this dude that stings himself with one!

West coast has best kiting, east coast best mix of kiting and other things to do and see... njoi!

Check out the forums at http://www.seabreeze.com.au/ also http://locations.splocs.com/kitesurf/co ... ralia.html has most of the good locations.
I had some great sessions at Gold Coast, Sunshine coast (Golden beach), Hervey Bay. Really friendly people that I met on the beach. Just rock up and introduce yourself.
