I'm going to travel to southern Italy in september and would like to get some info on nice spots and what kites to bring.
Any help would be highly appreciated!
Hi, I have been all around the coastline from Gargano to leuca and Taranto. Most of the spots work with scirocco (south wind). I don't think there is any wind in tropea, it is a beautiful town but I haven't seen any wind there.
I think one of the best spots down there in italy is Punta Pellaro. The locals say there is wind from February to November. It's a thermical northwest wind and you kite directly in the street of messina, a few kilometres south of Reggio Calabria. The wind gets between 15 to 30 knots nearly every day.
I have written a
spotguide in german about this place!

Hey all, I will be in Sardenga from August 10-17th. Was wondering peoples opinion on Punta Trettu vs Porto Pollo.
Looking for good wind and flat water. Trying to figure out which end of the island to stay on.

Hi tanre, I have been in Sardegna in may and it was really great, the best thing is to rent a car and go around the island. Mostly the wind blows from northwest-west, than you will have the strongest wind up in Porto Pollo. But Porto Pollo is not the best flat water spot. So try to visit Valledoria, Punta Trettu and Porto Botte. In case there is wind from the southern, you need to go tho the south. Just search for scirocco Kitespots in Sardegna.
I have also written an
Spotguide about Sardegna, but in german! Maybe you can use google translate

Calabria is awesome!
I will write a full report next week.
Sardegna: Porto Pollo is the worst spot!
Choppy, gusty and packed! Plus police enforce now helmet and life jacket rules!
Punta Trettu is closed for now!
Porto Botte has also flat water and good winds.
Valledoria has perfect flat water.
Check all locations on
www.splocs.com! There are some nice flat water spots near Orestano too !
