I'm a beginner who just got back from Buen Hombre. Great experience, I learned a lot and had a lot of room to learn it. The wind gets going to a good point for kiting around 11AM/1PM and gets its strongest starting around 5PM. Evening conditions are ideal for kiting during the full moon. The kite school has a great instructor, Mikey, if you're looking for lessons. They also rent all kinds of equipment, including water shoes - necessary for kiting on the semi-reef bay. The school are all English-speaking, and if you call ahead they can help arrange transportation. The food at any of the beach restaurants is excellent. This is not a tourist community, so if you're planning to stay for a longer vacation it helps to have some Spanish - but isn't necessary if you're staying at the school. There is no garbage service so it's kind to make an effort to minimize the garbage you're leaving behind. :jump:

Gusts went up to about 26/27 knots, but I also happened to be there for a rare depression so there were two days of rain and little wind to recover from. Biggest kite I used during the week was an 11m, smallest an 8m. I'd recommend either coming in for the day when you see that the wind is up, or staying for a week or two. If you're staying longer, bring reading material in case you get a down day. Once the wind is up it's going until well past dark.
