I haven't been here on the forum for long, but I already observed, that among all the good brands Wipika is mentioned the least. Is there a reason for this that I'm not aware of? My second question is in the subject already... Any opinions about the Wipika AMP?

I have AMP 10.3, and love it.
For me 80 kg, enough 5+ ms to go upwind with 150x38 custom board,
- very high jumps
- good quality production
- easy to relaunch
Was had problem and incindent with calm cleat, now I cut it off and happy.

Here we are often cutting our normal depower straps off (whatever brand it is... Naish, Takoon, North...), and replacing these with clam cleats instead !
Way better, faster, simpler, and huge trim range.
Have never experienced any problems with the clam cleats.
Again - it just shows how personal things are, for different kiters

I like the AMP's I have tested (10.3 and 11.9)
You can go very high with it and it moves fast.
If you like a fast kite and big airs, it is a great choice.
It flies stable in the air.
Relaunch I really can't tell.

Hi Mate
I have a quiver of AMP's 5.5 , 8.7 and 11.9 . I am 87kg and love all of them. The moast important thing you should look at is backup service.
Where do you stay, is there a reputable dealer near you and which kite brand offers you the best of these for your location ?
Moast of the top brands are pretty close , so I would look at other things like this backup situation.
Hope I could help.

Hi, Peter
I have Amp’s 13.5, 11.9 , 8.7 , and 7.1
Good kites, but carefully with big size (13.5 and 11.9) in gusty condition it can collapse!!!(wing tips)
So, I can say: this is good kite for stable wind.
Take care,

There is to things with problem potential:
First CalmCleat can power up you with sudden gust, not very dependable IMHO.
second - the end of center depower line have strap/belt, which can entangl with lines on kite relaunching time.

I also don't like the camcleats. I have seen problems with them in the past and the strap seems like a better option. The new Wippy bar seems to have a strap but i haven't seen them on the market yet.
The first 11.9 amps had collapsing problems but from what I heard this was a limited production problem and this has been resolved with the kites being replaced. The 11.9 amp I saw looked awesome in the red. Nice handles on the wing tips for IKO style self recovery. Durability and construction seemed top notch and they had addressed the issues with low down grunt on the 2002 airblasts. I also like the fact that they have removed the bridle, because most of the people I know took them off when they got the kites.

Thanks guys! I just bought a 10.3 AMP. My reason why I stayed at wipka was the dealer! It's close to where I live, the owner himself and his staff are kite instructors and they helped me in every problem I had so far. I'm really waiting for the wind! Till it's not coming I'll start to repair my second-hand Free Air that blasted on the sun into small pieces.
