kite defects

Postby RORYB1 » Sun Jul 03, 2005 8:15 pm

is there anyone else who has had a kit rip/tear from a wave pulling it whilst in the water? Its just that it happened to me today whilst using the viper boa 10m...
bummer for me as everything seems to be going wrong with this kite from start to finish, even though there have been good reviews about it, SHOW ME THE GOODNESS ad then i will believe it.
Apart from it missing the pump and repair kit on delivery and having a punctured leading edge bladder, i had to change the length on one of the control lines in order for the kite to respond to me. what is up with that...
or is it just this one kite that is defective...or are all kites supposed to be like that .
i know for a fact that the spectrum II flies like a dream so i am assuming it is just the kite.
i am writing this in my extreme rage at the makers of my kite and hope they will clean up their act as if they continue to make kites like this , they shouldn't expect a long business life.
MOST DISSAPPOINTED.
now lets see how they handle the situation.
i will get back to you.
but still want info as to whether this has happened to anyone else?
much appreciated

I think you should direct this 'extreme rage' at yourself...
You should have returned the kite in stead of letting a wave break it.

dude if you leave your kite infront of a wave and you dont leash it (non 5th line) your asking for it to be torn. I have had no problems with my current kites for the last two years but 2 years ago i dropped my 16m Aero2 infornt of a BIG wave and it ripped it apart.

Waves can kill kites be more careful!

I think you guys are overestimating the size and strenght of the ionian sea here, it isn't the atlantic , waves were smaller than 2 foot...

Ummm, miranda is your right to remain silent, and have a lawyer present during questioning.
I believe you were trying to refer to the latin phrase "caveat emptor" which means "let the buyer beware"
If your going to be an nice person get it right.

kite defects

Postby RORYB1 » Wed Jul 06, 2005 3:37 pm

so was contacted yesterday by kitehigh, who i must say are going out of their way to sort this out for me and have been extremely helpful through all of my purchases, and i was informed that viper are sending me a new kite .It seems they are good to their word about the warranty and they have handled themselves amazingly well.this is just to let them know that i appreciate their speedy response and look forward to flying it.chances are it was a pinprick, probably the same that punctured the LE bladder.
will let you know how it flies, as it is one of the new manufacturers on the market, and promises good value for money.
will keep you informed.
Thank you all for your info.
