temporary removal of post Major crossbow problems, Danger

Postby kruzlifix » Fri Oct 14, 2005 12:09 am

Dear kite community
what is going on? the below mentioned post was today suddenly removed from this forum....
phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2320858
this post describes a serious safety issue, luckily the northeast coast of brazil hast not many hard obstacles, otherwise I probably would have lost my son....
I think every crossbow rider should be aware of the fact that he does not have a working safety system when his kite is released in heavy wind and in the powerzone.
Despite this fact I do like very much the way my 12 m crossbow performs!
greetings

Mate, if you want o keep your post always on the top of the page you need to make it interesting enough for people to add something too it. There is nothing wrong with the post, but also nothing special about it.

I have seen and experience many DEATH Spirals on C-Shaped kites and never cared to write about.

Bottom line is, kiting is an extreme sport and as such prone to higher risks. You want to have something risk free, go play chess.

All you have posted is not a production mistake of the kite. It's simply an issue of riding too big a kite (totally sheeted out) and not having the struts inflated enough.

I AGREE though that the kite should not be labled as 100% safe. This would give the wrong impression to people. No kite is 100% safe.

post removal

@ tautologies
the post was indeed removed from the forum for about 10 hours but magically reappeared after someone has sent a private email to toby! thanks toby!
@ phillips
I totally agree with you. kiting per se is potentially dangerous and the crossbow iif ridden cautiously is undoubtfully the best kite I have ever flown and owned.
but I would like to ask all crossbow users that they practice at least one time the safety release of their kite when it flies accross the powerzone. you will be amazed to see was is happening! in this situation you have no influence on your backline tentions and the amount of pressure in your tubes has not much influence. Anyway please do it only in moderate windcontions and on a suited location.
andreas
BTW I think the above mentioned procedure should be part of any testing of any kitemagazin etc. it is hard to believe they publish a test about a kite without description of the kite´s behaviour in an emergency situation!

what the f***?

It has not been moved!

I didn't touch it!

I got a pm (mail) asking why it has been removed...my reply: I didn't move anything!

Yesterday more than 400 postings have been posted, so maybe it went on the second page?

Greets

hi Andreas,
if you touch such sensitive matters, you should think about changing your avatar to improve credibility. Maybe you should show up in your nice green surgeon suit for a while ..
