rhino 6 questions???? HELP.

Postby Kiterich » Thu Nov 03, 2005 4:30 pm

i have just started using my new RHINO 06`s after using fuels for the last 2 years.Firstly, in terms of performance they have been a revelation compared to the 05 fuels but thats not what the post is about. What i need to know is:

1: When are North going to make a press release about the bar issues, i have only just found out and wouldnt like to have been stranded at sea with a broken front line?

2: i have modified the bar so the front and back lines have been adjusted by exactly the same amounts after the modification has been carried out. this means they are the same as they were in relation to each other. Does the 12m Rhino 6 need longer front lines than the 16, i have heard something about a modification with the pig tails?

3: Is the 2 pump going to be available on the Rhino 6? I miss my one pump!

They did. Check phpbb/news_show.php?m_id=205

I haven't played around with that so far. Too much fun riding. Seems fine with even lines. May get a touch more low end with shorter rears.

No. Vegas 06 will have 2-pump.

Extended your front pigtails using the spare ones in the wing tip pocket.

I have Rhino 06 quiver of 14, 10 and 7. I found that only 14 needs longer pigtails (about 10 cm more) 10 and 7 are fine with the originals. Considering the bar I prefer the front lines to be about 5 cm longer than the back lines. That way you have a little more low-end and better turning.
To soften the kites (Rhino 05 feel) I have shortened the nose lines about 6-9 cm.

I haven't flown the 7m, so I don't know.

kiterich,

can you comment on the flying difference between rhino 06 and fuel 05?

i was thinking of replacing my fuel 17 with a rhino 18 to get a
faster kite.

16 Rhino would have power like your 17 Fuel and be faster. 18 Rhino is like R2, slow by modern standards.

I´ve replaced the cleat by a strap adjuster after 4 days trying to fall in love with the cleat  and fly all lines equal long - same setting as 05 bar now. R6 12 needs a setting which enables the kite to slightly spread the tips in low winds in order to benefit its brilliant low end capabilities. 12 works much more effective compared to 16 in this respect.

I´m just back from Ras Sudr and had 5 brilliant days with R6 12. This baby really rocks. I´d say its SWEET spot for my 80 kg starts from 12 kts on a 42cm wide board and ends somewhere 22/23 kts on my smaller board.
It´s full 10 kts sweet spot, what I never had on any kite of any brand before. I´m not talking accessible range, it´s pure sweeeeeet fun !

I´d wish R6 16 to be more affiliate to R6 12 in terms of turning speed.
Looking forward if Vegas 6 16 kept the turning speed of its predecessor,
which I´d rate better than R6 16.

Not offering any help with your question I'm afraid, but can you tell me what the revelation is? I have 05 fuels (13 and 17). Great kites in many respects, including one-pump and stability, but am looking for something with a bit more feedback from the bar, a bit better upwind ability (esp in 17 size), and not so hard to redirect. Does the rhino 6 perform better in those areas, and perhaps jump a bit better?
