I would suggest looking into the Windwing Rage II. Many have learned on this kite and it is very good for teaching. The SAFE System makes the kite depower well and relaunch is simplified. The price is very good as well as the service.

Why is it whenever somebody posts a specific question about a specific product, three or four pimps chime in recommending whatever competitive product they're pimping?

(just wait, I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses regarding cabrinah, naish best, and some of the others)

As far as Gaastra, I bought an 04 GXR 16.5 new off of ebay last winter and it was great in low-wind conditions, but it had terrible jellyfishing whenever I needed trim strap pulled in more than about 1/2 way.

With the newer kites, I don't know if they fixed this problem or not but it kind of put me off Gaastra (and tube kites in general as it was my first LEI).

Hey what you really need for your school is some Anomaly kiteboards - they're... uh... Pimpin!

People around say:

1) Nice Bar

2) Kite ok but heavy

3) Retail shop price very Expensive

I have´nt seen many Gaastras around in Tarifa this year.....and since 5th line set up no more jellyfishing

I would say..... if you can get them cheap.....buy them

Look at :

http://sport.search.ebay.de/gaastra_Kit ... acatZ77615

or:

http://www.bigboysports.de/Kitesurfing/

or:

http://www.windsurf.de/shop/shopping/pr ... d=&id=5346

This one sells you a Gaastra force 12 complete for € 529.- or € 429.- kite only....or a 8 complete for € 449.- kite only for € 349.-

Better deal than Best.......

Saludos

Got 2 Gaastra Team riders @ my local beach..

They sent back there GXR`s because of the jellyfishing issue`s..

There 05 Vision`s perform very well though, much better than any previous Gaastra kite and they like them alot..

The Gaastra Phoenix/Phoenix II`s make very superb lightwind kite`s..

Gaastra kite

Postby moblvet » Tue Nov 29, 2005 9:07 am

I've been kiting since 98 and used Gaastras for last 4 years.
04 Gaastra Stealths had a problem with material and they wobbled.
05 Visions they corrected problem. Very fast turning kite, good depower, built well. I use them for waves here as do most of my mates. It's a high performance kite.
06 kites are slightly better, but very similar to 05's.
I went Cabrinha Crossbows this year but haven't sold the Gaastras:10-12-14 just in case/backup because they're so sweet.
Waves have torn my 12 and 16 XB's so far, repairable but it seems Visions survived waves better.

i loved the 03 gxr.
the stealth was kinda o.k.
the vision sucked.
the vision2 is better, but too heavy on the bar.
it's been developed as fourline kite.

the force is o.k. as beginner/intermediate kite.
nothing that rocks, but it's ok.
very cheap.

Gaastra is the worst kite experience in my life about which I want to forget. GXR had no problems with jellyfishing but was flying like crap compared to others. Stealth is a nightmare. I was carrying all season long a needle and threads with me because the kite didn't stop falling apart on its own, not only mine but others too. I forgot to remember how many repairs I made (may be twice a week all season long).
You can hardly find any reports about Gaastra now which to my mind seems that finaly people understood what crap they are riding and how they were fooled around.
