does anyone have any designs for sliders and kickers.
when the wind is E wich is most of the time I ride a rad area called south beach in nassau.
and we are getting a little board with this flat water and we the local riders would like to make a section of the area sliders and kickers.
I used to make ramps for sk8boarding so I understand that part of it .
but do the ramps need to be boyant?
what's the best method of securing them down?

it depends on where its going. If its shallow, even ground and no tide variation u can make one on struts. But most are made to float using some styrofoam. stuck to the bottom.
How we build them.
Cut out the profile (side view, this is your length, height and steepness of the kicker) out of 12mm plywood/mdf or any reasonably thick sheet of wood you can find. We then cross brace the nice person with structural pine (this sets the width of the bitch.) Run a brace along the front and run some structural pine along the longest side of the triangle to lay our horizontal slats onto. Put the slats across (like 2-3inch slats) and then drill the pvc pipe to the slats.
Might also need a brace across the bottom if its a big nice person.

Hey AJ,
I checked out the end of Blue Hill the other day,
When we got there the tide was out about 1/2 mile
and low wind. I was bummed, looked like a nice spot.
seemed more windy inland
Met a cool taxi driver though
his name is Fergeson. He took us to his house close
to south beach where his wife makes soap

at low tide full moon 1 inch of water at high tide 3 feet.
but there is a hard bar you can walk over toward the ocean.
or just walk to the left about 400 yards and you will be in knee depth water (kitekilling trees on shore and honey comb rock ) and a slightly exposed reef at low tide toward the ocean.
intermed to advanced riders only.(at low tide)
my wife says when it's not blowing it's sucking sorry there was no find for you on that day.
well bain it sounds like you had a cultural exp in nassau.
but when the wind is E SE S that place is sick.
now back to the sliders and kickers.
so I don't have much tide there ,
do I want it to float more around the back end of the kicker to make it more boyant in that area ?
or should it be equaly boyant?
I have seen some in mags that have the pvc tubing on it ,that tend to get britel in the sun what other sufaces can I put on it?
I was thinking of anchoring them down with cement bags with chain (like a mooring) what do you guys think?

I a previous post from hein, I think someone stated that they used 2" thick astrourf, i don't know how well this will work but it seem to be a better option than the pvc, maybe cheaper? probably have to replace it every year thogh do to exposure to the eliments

you want even float. Most kickers are really ghetto, dont spend to much time thinking and planning just get out there and build it, you will see what will work and what won't when your building it. Look at this one, this is how we build em.
with regards to sliders. If you got soft sand make it out of 100mm pvc pipe. Get a shitload of T pieces and cut the top half off them so they are open. We built one today in 1hr at the beach. 10m of 100mm pvc pipe, 4 T pieces and a solid slider with little effort. You see them use this in autofocs bonus section.

for a beginner slider have like 3m of flat and 1.5m of slope at about 30degrees to the horizontal. Just to get the feel of sliders, and because its small you usually clear the slider if you f*** up. but once your better and can actually slide the nice person properly. You want atleast 6 meters (20feet)

I suggest checking out the dvd "Autofocus" by ACL productions. It's all sliders, kickers and rails and good bonus stuff on building them.
