course racing kiteboards

Postby Bigdog » Wed Apr 05, 2006 1:45 am

A friend of mine wants to have a board made to beat everything around a course.
Anyone have any links to what is the state of the art for upwind racing?

Thanks
Stan

this guy, mentioned in
http://www.thegreatdownwinder.com/
Wave Riding
Masters: Ian Young (West Aus)

of WinDesigns Australia http://members.iinet.net.au/~ianyoung/

used to sell a Rail-fin kite wave directional design.

I borrowed his idea and installed "Rail-fins" on my Town and Country wave sailboard, converted for kite use. The board works great.

He was also winner in kite surf endurance events using these boards.

I'd like to buy one, except they're not on his site at the moment.

Any1 know what he plans to do with the Rail-fin boards?
thanks..

I don't have any speed data to back this up, but I would think that the low rocker boards for lightwind might work pretty well. They are excellent at charging upwind and are pretty fast.

Maybe something like a SS Glide or a Spleen Session 141.

And use a bow kite they are very fast too.
