which brand is the top quad-fin board

I've been studied some reviews between Stretch and DC Boardz. Stretch seems to be stronger/ lighter than DC ..Correct ? Have you tested both boards ? durable ? lightest board ? Cost ? any Pro and Con ? I need to know which size fits my weight, 200 lbs in any water/ light-med wind condition.. :thumb:

Just get a Surftech Tuflite
15 pages of shortboards
to choose from. the 5-11
Fletcher 4 is on page 3

if you want straps then
get some Surf-N-Skims
from NSI.

I went with the Naish 5'4'' quad. It feels and looks exactly like the Stretch board...but maybe a little stronger. Superb board for sure. I am just about to take it out now. btw. I am your weight. Best thing, there is no 4 month waiting line to get it, and it is quite a lot cheaper....

One thing though, although you the board can be ridden in lighter winds than a TT or sure is not a particular light wind board. This goes for both the Stretch and the Naish board...But it is really a smooth ride for sure.

A.

I just picked up my custom directional light wind board
for my light weight from dcboardz.
I have a smaller Dereck made almost a year ago 143 X 38 X 4 lbs,
and still holding up allright.

180 X 46 X 6 lbs
It's strong carbon composite design and light only 6 lbs without fins.
Concave bottom deeper in middle. (As you see with my friend's son)
If this will not go nothing else will IMO, but when I try it I will post a review.

If thrusters are an option I can say no doubt that the Slingshot SRT 5'11 is one of the top production boards on the market. and u can grab them at a bargain, my mate ordered a 2007 one for 500euros... (I paid as much secondhand haha)

I bought a DC Boardz 4 play quad last year and I cant begin to describe how perfect it is. I think any quad fin board is more suited to kitesurfing than a standard surfboard ..... lots of reasons but look at derecks own site or at some of my rambles on http://surfing-with-kites.blogspot.com/ for info.

I love it and it seems to carve by thought alone ..... I am not great but the board makes me feel great sometimes. AND it is great in light underpowered conditions as well.

Be sure to ride the Fletcher 4, before you buy. It has a light and nervous nose that I don't care for. WW

I just tried my new Naish 5'4' quad at San Carlos in Baja, ( the absolutely stupid PERFECT,
"murphy cartoon", mile long "bowl of 16 lotus petals" wave spot, w/ side off wind), board
worked very well, but I still preferred the feel of my 07' 5' 4" Rocket fish on THOSE waves.
I much prefer the Quad though, for blasting around in SF Bay chop + swell, and busting big
air, and drag racing.
I'm pretty sure I will find wave conitions that favor the Quad though.
Thruster and Quad boards are different rides for sure, and having both in your quiver is ideal.
That being said, fins are a HUGE part of a wave boards performance :thumb: .

I had a set of 3 custom G-10 fins made by Curtis Fins (Brian Wilson of fins unlimited), with a 60/40
cambered foil on outside fins done in a Stretch outline for the Rocketfish, and the results are
clearly superior in all aspects of performance: looser, faster, more pop off bottom, or going for big air,
and cavitation nearly impossible. My stock fins are headed for the trash can!.

I had my first session on my 5'4 SS Naish, in 15-18knots and using a 19m Raven 3 (using no depower at all): as everyone has said the board is super fast and feels nice and powerful with the quad fin set-up.

The board feels less of a classic wave board when compared to the 5'10 SS Naish - to me it feels more about speed, boosting and very fast/powered wave riding..... no surprises there then, given it is said the shape is similar/or is the same to one of Mr.Naish's boards. The 5'4 suits more general kiting at my spot and particularly summer conditions which are more about boosting and some waveriding, whereas for bigger wave days the 5'10 is the one for me.

The 5'4 board does plane early, I was using it in light winds and swopping between the 5'4 and 5'5 fish, the 5'4 feels like it has no drag and limitless top speed. Off topic, but the 19m is very nice... everyone goes on about how big kites are dead, but all the guys on 12's & 16's (even using surfboards) were walking upwind when the wind was light, as opposed to ripping.

ps Paff nice photo, where is that? (I'm thinking holidays!!)
