I worked 2 years and half there.
I also speaks resonalbly well chinese. For reading this is another matter .

There are cites so nasty with pollution it rains every day from the fallout. Nothing even close to that nasty anywhere in the US.

I do not know who is nasty.
But for sure, China has not yet reach the US in term of Big trucks and other stupid SUV.
Actually biclycle is still used in lot in China. I know this for sure because I used to go to work with my roller blades and I was sharing the biclycle lanes/roads.

But China is for sure on a good path to follow america in term of car usage.

I'm talking about cities with populations in the millions and no traffic lights.
Not the famous cities the media likes to talk about.

Can you please give me the names of those famous places because I have been traveling a lot in China and I can not remember seeing "cities with with populations in the millions and no traffic lights"

I know only one country with only one traffic light (well actually it was 5 years ago): it was libanon.

Nowhere can you drink the water. Everything is dumped in the rivers.

For this at least I agreee with you. I personnaly say 15 km from Shanghai a pipe directely going through the sea with a liquide with two colors: bright yellow and dark black and smelling sulfur.

But beleive me, China is not the only country where you can not dring the tap water. Actually every where in Asia (except Japan and Singapour) if you drink the tap water to go directly to the toilet for several hours.

By the way, why american always order "mineral water" instead of "tap water" when they go to a restaurant in the US ?

You wanna save Co2 as a kiter? Easy, just use your local closest kiting areas instead of driving long distances in your Co2 belching car. Trade in that big truck of yours and get a Prius or other hybrid fuel vehicle.

Better to buy a locally made small VW or something, the car carriers from Japan burn 1775 tons of fuel one way. Also the mining of nickel for the Prius batteries has destroyed the landscape in Sudbury Ontario.... so I've read..

My company has built dozens of plants there. All with no pollution equipment installed, because the client demands we delete this equipment. Nowhere can you drink the water. Everything is dumped in the rivers.

China is still considered a developing nation. We here in the US, at least in some ways, have far fewer excuses for our excesses. Sure, China deserves criticism, but lets be careful not to compare apples and oranges. As a US citizen I feel like I should be looking at my own consumptive habits right now instead of deriding the mess in China. Of course, since I'm consumptively linked to China, this presents quite a rabbit hole. I do what I can.

Actually, last month several tausend of Chinese demonstrated during two days in Xiamen (good place to kite by the way) against the building of a new (and nasty) chimical complex.

Local chinese communiste leaders love big industrial project because it means more taxes and more money in their pockets to pay for their cars, expensive restaurants and Xiao Jie (prostitute in china).
As far as I know, the Xiamen communist party was very surprised (and afraid) by those demonstration.

Coming from the world's worst polluter, I find these self-contradictory statements laughable.

Less pollution = less people...less pollution = starvation...less pollution = misery and death.

But this is what enviros want. They want people to die because they think we are overpopulated. The enviro-fascists consider us a cancer on the earth. If they get their wish, 100s of thousands will die, even millions, just like what happened when they got DDT banned from poor countries.

Mullholland, not all resources are renewable. If you can wrap your mind around that one small simple fact, then you might experience a wonderful, euphoric state of bliss and opening-up... a seminal moment in your life. It's called reality, and all of a sudden the world seems a bit more complex.
