Real's Trademark Lawsuits

Postby CosmoDog » Thu Nov 29, 2007 12:59 am

Real Kiteboarding has trademarked the following words:

Zero 2 Hero
Water Time
Ground Control

They have also sued the following companies:

OCEAN EXTREME SPORTS, LTD., INC. and DARYL DROWN for Trademark Infringement
KITTY HAWK KITES, INC. et al for Trademark Infringement

Toby, this is not speculation, it is public record.
I strongly disagree with such tactics and will avoid doing business with Real.

Why?

If they are trademarked and somebody else is using them, that is what they should do.

I don't agree with "water time", that seems like more of a general term, but "zero 2 hero" and "ground control" are not common kiting terms outside of their business and have the right to be protected.

BTW, I am not a Real supporter, I don't like them either, but they are following the law.

Why?
"water time" and "ground control" are so generic I don't think they should be allowed.
I also don't think lawsuits belong in such a small industry over such trivial details.
It smells like the big guy trying to sue his competition out of business.

Hey,

What are they protecting? Are the companies teaching the same method as Zero to Hero? I

I have watched the video and I think he may be mad that the other folks are not wearing those CHROME shades as the guy in the DVD.

What kind of loser would sue over the term "Water Time"?
Let alone trademark it in the first place.
Think about where their priorities must be and how much time and money has been wasted on this. It's pathetic.

Here are some more folks that "deserve" to be sued.

First off, I don't work for any of these clowns.

Problem here is that REAL is part of the real world, commerce, lawyers, profits, customer service, business plans....the whole nine yards. Its called growing a business.

The other players cry foul? No sir. The guy with the most money should do whatever it takes to sue the balls off any competitor and drown the little player into legal submission. Join the Republican party while they're at it, who knows.

This is the foundation of America. The kiteboarding industry should not be immune just because some companies think they are outside the legal framework of America!

"Hey Bro.....can you spare a dime? I'm trying to kite 24/7 and keep my business floating at the same time. I like to hook people up and give out bro deals left and right. Can't you sue somebody else and just leave me alone? Whats a lawyer got to do with kiting anyway? I thought we were all just having fun here?"

Hey
