KOOKS

Postby dkt » Fri Jun 20, 2008 3:04 am

I HATE KOOKS!

You all know them:

They ride right next to you and get mad when you turn. (I don"t look back because I look more at the waves so I can ride them.)

They can't ride worth a crap, but make sure everyone knows they kite.

Then you have the one SAFTEY KOOK at your spot.

The impact vest, the helmet, the wetsuit in summer, the Eperb, andthe all important life raft.

what about the guy who asks you to launch him a half mile a way, and when you kindly go over to do it he doubts your skills, asking you if you have ever done it before, and whether or not you are a beginner, then proceeds to get his shit tangled and take 10 years to get it right, launch, no wait put it down, untangle, then launch,,,

and if you ask the same guy for a launch 2days later he acts like he is donating you a kidney...

About this turning without looking back:

Please look back!!!

But there are a special situation: Another kiter a riding behind you just about 10 meters downwind. You cannot turn while he is doing this. He contine to herd you all the way up to the beach, before he turn close the shore.

stupid is what stupid does...

Kiting in a line up is without question on the stupid end of the scale...

That said sometimes a kiter will dog ya as described above: just downwind with a mind to pinching you up.

When I encounter a lame ass aiming to dog me--I just throw my kite back and carve hard down wind the instant he (smile) reacts, I just send it back to where it was before and continue on...

Usually they don't even see you abort the turn...

Kooks can be fun to f*** with, I usually end up laughing at them anyway...

dog them back

How about the flat water kooks who ride every single tack to shore, but only do a half tack on the way out. Effectively blocking off the only good jumping area where the advanced riders are taking turns throwing tricks. The advanced guys are tacking back and forth in and out of traffic waiting for the f-tard to get out of the way but he never does because he wants to do little stinkbug jumps close to shore, back and forth, for the old ladies, and none of his tacks are long enough to go more than 5 ft upwind.

Lame.

Speaking of kooks, this guy didnt apologize or anything. He saw me shooting, and started jumping in front of me, but I was way off to side , ( to avoid such problems), but the crowd was over where this happened. That kite just missed my mom, but hit some lady. You can see her checking her shoulder at the end of the clip if you look close. What would you do if this happened at your beach? :nono:

distance is your friend!

He seems to have enough space...but with onshore winds, and exactly in front of the rocks, people, cars...no good idea!

Thx for sharing!

Toby, what is interesting is I posted this vid on a bunch of forums and the replies where all very different. I wanted to see what kiters from other beaches would do if this guy did this at their beach. Some said they would kick his ass, others would politely give him a warning. Some even criticized me for just posting the vid!
