Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics

Postby chicagokitesurfer » Mon Jun 23, 2008 4:12 pm

I posted that I use TVTonic to get RSS video feeds of random extreme sports including kiteboarding about a year and a half ago. You can't get this stuff on TV. So I just saw today that NBC and TVTonic are teaming up with MSFT to deliver the games to users for free. Its a 12 hour difference, so we'll all be sleeping while stuff is going on, and will only get small clips during the day, this is going to be a good way to see what you want when you want to.

Its a free download from their home page and like I said you can set it up to download your favority kiteboarding RSS feeds:

Anyway, thought you guys might be interested.

I will not watch a single second. I am confused how they can be held in a communist country with some of the worst human rights violations of recent memory. Not to mention, recent cheating scandals in the win at all cost metality. Again we c the sham that is the world community, olympic committee, UN, etc. How was China even in the running?

You may very well be confused.

One can argue that China is one of the most capitalistic countries in the world

Argue about whether China is actually communist all you want, that's not the point. Human rights, however, is something everyone should care about. This is what happens when the Olympics are planned by the powerful few and residents have no voice or control. I doubt Yan has the luxury to debate which kite or board would fit best in his quiver.

I really don't care why/how/when/etc China was awarded the games...

I was simply saying that I use TVTonic to get RSS feeds of extreme sports and they are doing the service for the games using NBColympics.com as a "games on the go" or something like that.

I don't do anything. Any time anyone puts a video up on the internet, I automatically get it.

Get it?

I don't think anyone had difficulty interpreting your post. This is a discussion forum and the discussion migrated to politics and quality of life, sometimes threads get off topic.

Thanks for sharing tvtonic

China is coming man, make no mistake.
I've been working there alot lately: Shanghai for a while, last Beijing car show for 2 weeks, and coming back to work there on the Olympics this year for 5 weeks.
The biggest mistake the west can make is thinking they're behind and communists..
They know how to produce and consume like no other, and will be the next world power...mark my words.
It's not about disagree or agree with me, it's just a fact...
So brace yourselfs....

20m or Bust,

You are so wrong. This is typical of what some might think, if all their knowledge came from sound bites on the TV news. I don't mean to pick on you, because most US citizens have little first hand experience and must depend on news outlets for information. It's not just the US either. It works both ways. Lots of countries have distorted perceptions of the US.

For those of us lucky enough to see the world and work in these countries, its a very different picture. I'm flying to Dalian China in 2 weeks. Just one of many trips I make there. If you were ever going to call a Communist country home, this is the one you would want to live it. The people of China are doing just fine without your opinions on how they should live.

By the way, I HAVE seen and worked on the very worst of China and the very best. I've seen people living in dirt caves. They don't need your sympathy.

I hope people will think hard about boycotting the China Olympics while giving no thought to buying kites (among other things) made in China.
