I think this forum needs MODERATION!

There are 2 main problems:

1. Pimps
2. Trolls

There needs to be some easier way of sorting out the garbage from the good stuff.

A number of sites use a user moderation system where a number of users are chosen
each day or couple of days either randomly or based by the particpation in the site.

These moderators then allocate points to topics/posts as to how good or bad they are
for example:

relevence,
pimping,
trolling,
insight,
interest

The posts which are modded up get displayed promenantly. The posts which get modded down are not displayed unless the user decides to view every post which most people wont.
A good example is this tech site:

www.slashdot.com

I know the subjects are chosen by the site but the basic idea is sound.

The given forum has a good structure, and happy that it is that way seeing your example!

And more moderators? Please not! One is already enough. I have my line of moderation, imagine there are 10 or so, and everyone will be different and see things differently! Another chaos!

And speaking about pimps and trolls, imagine those pimps and trolls moderate!

And, we had those topics before, and the advice is simple: don't read what you think is pimped!

Welcome to the wonderful world of the internet. Free speech and all that. This forum doesn't suck - it's been a great source for info and entertainment. Some of the pimping that goes on cracks me up.

If you haven't noticed there is a healthy population of people here not afraid to call out pimping or trolls. I like it much better that way. Toby makes sure the stupid stuff gets to Flamer's Paradise.

Suggested filters for reading kiteforum

Common sense
Sense of humor

Besides which if the wind is blowing good everyone is kiting!

slashdot gets WAY more traffic than kiteforum, so using a similar system is complete overkill. There really aren't that many posts here to skip over that you may label as garbage. This forum is just fine and it's you that seems to be trolling.

Knowledge is power. We can read it all and learn, use what works... Nothing is perfect anyway... Tons of info here... great forum!

No need to bash soulboy. He does have a point, even if he almost lost it by this post's name choice.

I use kiteforum as a source of knowledge, updated info and healthy humour, but often find myself losing my time reading trash.

It´s nice to know that some people have plenty of time to spend cultivating their adiction to virtual dialetics, but I think that many users who have something else to do would appreciate a ranking system (not censoring) of some sort.

I have to say if you do not like the forum as you subject title suggest you are always free to take it on down the road or start your own forum.
