It is pretty niave of you to honestly believe that you aren't part of the problem and to honestly think that you slapping down a few dollars makes things better.
No, I've never considered that.... thank you for raising the issue. I was not aware of this. I must have missed that episode of Dateline. (BTW, how is Chris Hansen, the Moral Crusader doing with the ladies himself lately?

So, it would not be possible for a woman sex worker to have made the choice to earn a living providing sexual services without having been forced into it? Should I consider that all have been forced into it? Are ages 10-14 the prime ages for this to happen?
I hear that there are some women who continue to be be "victims" of sex work well into their 40's. I know of some who have made this choice of being victimized as late as their 30's and 40's also. I know of some who have decided at age 18-25 that their lives in their second world countries are so desperately poverty stricken that there is simple NO work available for them to find employment at ANY wage, that they found their decision to go into sex work to be life changing for both themselves and their families they support.
Yes, those damn pimp families living large in their Rio shanty towns!
soul19 wrote:Your statement about that you pay more for that person to have sex with you than I would for them to clean for me shows the lower respect that you have for them!
I realize that you are making a comparsion but if you look at it from a moral point of view (and yes you do have some morals) the person cleaning is doing something that isn't explioting themselves for your carnal needs.
I know, I know.... hiring maids to do things we are too lazy to do ourselves like cleaning our toilets is much more respectful. Especially at the wages we accord them. And unlike sex work with their pimps, maids and dishwashers are always awarded their full measure of the fruits of their hard labour. The rich restaurant, hotel and employment agency owners are in no way taking a disproportionate share of the money paid by the (enabling) customers!
As I first world kiteboarder (known for their lavish spending on food and accomodations) there is little doubt that you and others like Fred leave hundreds of dollars of tips for the toilet cleaners as I leave locally for the girls I take for dinner, to the beach and so forth. I know my money is dirty but I hope that the fact that I leave some there that it might do some good some how.

Toby I honestly am shocked that you have the gull to state that this man is brave about posting this when he has created a new account to hide behind. We are all given to opinion but your statement is probably the worst that I have read!!!!!
Never mind that he commented, I'm surprised that Toby even left this thread up! No doubt that soon enough there will be some sanctimonius North American poster who will organize a boycott and pressure advertisers to pull ads etc.
And ironically, those who wail the loudest are usually the hypocrits who get caught with their pants down!
Methinks though protesteth too much - Shakespeare
Elliot Spitzer made the same arguments as you guys, used his powerful position as the Attorney General and Governor of New York to prosecute prostitutes, yet was a notorious "John" himself.
I don't believe there was anything wrong with his seeing her, but the outrageous duplicity and hypocrisy is as stellar an example of the ultimate Douche Bag as there will ever be!
I have met his "victim" Ashley Dupree in another situation. She said the worst victimization was being outed as a prostitute. NOT the sex work itself. She said it was HER choice and she made a good living off it and was going to use the money to get ahead.

The Crime: Sending sexually laced, gramatically challenged instant messages and e-mails to teenaged boys in the Congressional page program for more than 10 years.
The Hypocrisy: Chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children. One of the foremost opponents of child pornography in the Senate.

The Crime: Soliciting sex from an undercover cop in an airport bathroom
The Hypocrisy: Craig twice voted against adding the words “sexual orientation” to the federal hate crimes law. Craig also voted to give states the right to refuse to recognize gay marriage–a right they already had, but the Senator wanted to really, really prove he didn’t like gay people.
The Quote: “I am not gay, I don’t do these kinds of things.”
