Takoon Wook Line connections

Postby bezz » Sat May 17, 2003 9:36 am

Hi all,

I have just received a brand new Takoon Wook 12 and I have bumped into a slight problem. As this is my first LEI kite I have never been involed into connecting lines to this type of kites.

The manual is quite good but misses out on illustrations that would make my life easier.

I've got the following problem:

As you can see in the picture there are three parts that need to be interconnected according to the manual. (..or not?)

Number 1 is one of the back lines coming from the bar.

Number 2 is the small connector supplied by takoon that "must be connected to the loop of the backline". At least thats what it says in the manual.

Number 3 is the back line connector on the kite.

Questions:

1. The manual shows that 1 and 2 are interconnected as shown in the pictures. The problem is that in the manual picture the knot on number 1 does not exist. It's just a normal loop.

So do I just make a larks head knot and connect number 1 to number 3 directly (picture B) since there is a knot already present and forget about number 2?

Or do I follow the manual and connect 1+2+3? (Picture A)

2. What does the following sentence mean?

"You don't ride with a TAKOON bar with the anti-invert line system"

I would appreciate any feedback from other wook users who might have questioned themselves about this.

Thanks

Bezz

I assume you have the wook with the takoon bar then do not worry!

Your picture number two is correct, connect using a larks head knot from the kite to go around the knot on the line

good luck!

Do it like picture B
thingy number 2 is supplied if you have a backline that ends in a loop, not a knot. So that is when you have a bar without the anit-invert system.

When you have the takoon bar, then you do not need thingy number 2.

Above replies are right.

You should not mount any of the supplied line/knot parts.
They are only for use with another bar (not a Takoon 2003 bar..).

So picture B is correct for the rear lines.
And the front lines fits as is too.

2. What does the following sentence mean?

"You don't ride with a TAKOON bar with the anti-invert line system"

That means - if you have a Takoon bar, you have a safe line setup, where you can not accidentally mount your front/rear lines the wrong way.

Because you can not mount the front line on the rear position.

And as you ride with a Takoon bar (with "anti-invert line system"), you just mount the lines where they "fit" on your Wook, without mounting anything extra.
This way, your lines are always correct mounted.
Right/left sides are colour coded.
