2018 Market forecast

Postby Kykeon » Tue Dec 26, 2017 11:53 am

Let's put here our guesses and see what comes out a year from now:

* Since Hydrofoiling is steadily picking up, more and more companies will come out with HF specific kites.

- In autumn 2018 we will see new single/no strut models from companies that did not offer such a model.
- We will also see more "easy" mid-aspect ratio foil kites like pansh a15, kitech Fly4, concept air pulsion but from bigger brands (Ozone was the first to pick up this trend)
- More kites will be advertised as tunes for 20-30 lines (Like Zeeko Notus air)

Region Where I'm kiting, this last summer we have a few hundred kiters is my guess. Everyone that's foiling knows who doing it. We are like 10-15 guys foiling in a 200km radius. There's a fb group for foilers in Sweden with 145 members and based on an informal pole, my guess is more than half have not started foiling.
Not a big market up here..

That said, I agree with your predictions.

Shouldn’t this thread go under Foilboarding?

Lots of lesson but very few will stay with it. Overall market will decease again and the used market will collapse further.
Also, there will word wars on kiteforum about goofy shite.

Giggle 🤭
I’m not advanced enough to make technical predictions. The OP’s assessment sounds about right: more foiling and a drive for lighter kites.

We may see flatter, lighter carbon boards (more a wish than a prophecy!)

It would also be nice to discover more amazing kitable spots on the blue rock... at least that’s what I want from Santa, kitewise 🤙💨

Is wake style getting less popular? There seems to

Be less marketing hype for it.

More companies will make folding or split boards, and more tandem ride boards.

More companies will make foil kites. (More bait for you know who!)

Apple will make an iBar that will slow you down as the battery gets old. (Just kidding!)

More adjustable trim bars.
