fact is brands generally dont support youth in kiteboarding any more, they target high income /retired older riders. They used to support the youth movement and it thrived. $$$
You can see the change in target marketing if you look at adds from 12+ years ago and compare them to now.
entry
boards $399
kites 1299
harness $169
imo
You do realize you can donate your two year old material to younger guys who don’t have the means yet? Why do you want to take the bread from the mouths of the producers? Stupid!
Oh and BTW CHEAP liberal economies are not into supporting seniors or their youth anymore, they support migrants, illegal migrants! So the next generation of seniors won’t have the means to support kiteboarding.
Can you try for once to think things through to their logical conclusion or is that an alien skill on this planet these days? I don’t blame you! You’ve been fed liberal propaganda for decades. It rots the brain!
Give the Neocon lunatic horseshit a rest, would you please? It's got no place here.
And you are flamer
there is a more appropriate thread for you. The civilized discussion here is about kite material, not politics, nice person. Neocons created the cheap economy, so you are obviosly too dumb to guess my political affiliation, which I don’t have

BTW cheap economy & inflation go hand in hand; the central banks call the shots, not the producers. A healthy economy is run by producers, not banks & governments.
Or is that too logical?

Oh c’mon seriously? This thread isn’t happening, is it?
Where are we? Schwarzenegger & leftie Hollywood finally colonized Mars & we are living a third world nightmare there?
Anything of quality needs TIME, resources, Human Resources & ingenuity & they all need to get paid. Stop whining & do your bit, unless you want to let aristocrats run the world again. Honestly they did a better job bc they weren’t skinflints. I left academe bc it turned into a third world slave mine, ppl churning out 10 meaningless articles a year to meet production quotas (this is RESEARCH we’re talkin, which is the most time-consuming activity!), empty paperwork, fake science, instead of real research, watering down the quality of thinking. Welcome to 3rd world science gone global. US universities used to pump money into quality but they tanked, no chance of survival in a third world economy. Thank God Trump is trying to turn things around!
If you run a business you know it’s no picnic; to put out quality you need money, time, talent, you need to support the right ppl with the right skills...
Build your own kites & boards then if you think of someone else’s labor so little
How hard is it to respect the work of others? Cheap planet, cheap people, an ocean full of trash, yeah, that’s brilliant
Thanks - i was confused but now it’s a lot cleaner....Trump is a good thing and kites should be expensive. Phew. What a relief.

Not about politics. Could've fooled me!

The kite industry can only profit from fair trade deals... These are small companies, not global concerns &
Trump’s plan is to empower smaller companies like kite companies that are run more like a family business than big draconian global corporations.
It’s GOOD NEWS! Not war news

Simple, what passes for news these days is actually sponsored content. On both sides. So real information is very scarce.
Not quite! The Paris accord was a globalist sham.
Trump understands the need to protect the environment from rampant global industrialization. The third world, including China & India, should never have been industrialized because they are not culturally advanced enough to deal with it. But the Soviet Union started all this. Russia & the US were used by globalists as power foci designed to benefit a few families who own the world! Now they created mass migration! It causes more pollution & is a human catastrophe for both migrants & hosts! The planet is in a dire state because of the greed of the global banking system, which needs a permanent civil war in every region to thrive. That’s why they feed us liberalism, to justify their wars. They create wars! We are dealing with very serious problems & they are a threat to the oceans.
Trump is incredibly intelligent & understands all this. Marl is more of a reactionary. The Paris accord was sand in the eyes designed by the very ppl who pollute the most! It had to be ended! We have no solutions & we are in serious trouble! That’s in a nutshell... but it’s not that simple. Just keep your head on and try to think things thru. Indeed Knotwindy, no info out there is the complete truth,.. you are responsible to think things thru & we, the sea tribe, have a vested interest in keeping our oceans clean.
Oh, and just for good measure a soupçon of religion mixed in with the politics.

Complaining is always easy.
I had a small board brand around 2003-2005.
Barely made money on it, the costs of all together are pretty high, and everyone needs to make some money...only with direct sales price can be less.
But then you miss the support from schools and shops and need to make even more advertising.
Try to do a brand yourself...and pretty sure after you lost your money you will be happy to pay the prices they ask for.

Spot on Toby.
As far as I know kite manufacturers ROI is much lower in comparison with many other industries.
To complain about the prices of a company's latest inovation is ridiculous.

In 2019 a 11m LEI+ Bar will cost 2188 Euro (or 2538 US$)
The good news is it will have a brand new name and colour design to justify it...

Lets not forget some companies like Switch makes descent bar and kites at a good price brand new. Great bridge for young riders until they can make some good money. Still counting everything 1000–2000 is necessary...
I dont mind boards being expensive. They last.
Ridden hard, Kites dont last a two seasons without having some kind of problem. Particularly in the TROPICS. And, one unlucky sharp shell..its over. The kite may look good, but the fabric stretches, bridles balance change, tubes delaminate, and everything slowly loses its performance. Like buying an overpricced box of kleenex. Makes perfect business sense.
