?? You basically just said that you could make the kite turn faster, which in turn got better performance out of it. If they make the same kite turn faster next year without sacrificing other factors you don’t think it would be improved?
Well it is a very wel designed delta shape 5 struts kite to start with and for it's size (17).... is quite fast and... in experienced hands... will turn real fast
They might improve the turning speed of the kite next year and if so.... an experienced big kite rider demoing the kite again...might just make it turn real real fast

It's not just about the kite but the bar handling combined with the timing of the surfboard ( in this case) during the turns on waves faces and on the inside
All has to come happen effortlessly and in the exact sequence to achieve fast turning speeds on big LEI

Takes practice ....yes...to get the better performance out of kites that size...and love them for what they can do for you

Now... hats off to this guy.....he's the fastest !!

Oh for sure, your a super pro!

Let me put it this way. If next years kite is significantly slower, would it not be worse?

Point is, speed is integral to kite performance, be it the kite or your super powers.

Someone posts they like their 17m and you have an orgasm and dive into telling us how fast you can make them turn. But yeah, don’t believe the hype. Slow kites are great.

Goes straight where you want it...and how many times straight to where you don’t want it ? 😁
Hardly ever, and if it does go somewhere I don't want it then a quick flick of the bar and it's back in the right place.

On the other hand, how many times has a kite got stuck somewhere you don't want it and nothing you did could move it from there?

Guys, ignore the jumpingjack ... err shark... champion. His mommy turned off cable, so he‘s replaying his faves on social media.

Seriously, he only stirs trouble & contention, zero contribution... he‘s done a lot of damage to the forum over the years, but if you engage him you are guilty too. I admit, I‘ve fallen in the trap too, but no more...

I love fast turning kites for regular riding. You get much more range with them. With a fast turning kite I can easily generate power for my waterstart and for those moments when there is too little power, at other times I can enjoy a relaxed and playful ride without my kite pulling me too much.

I’ve never owned one, 16 was my biggest back maybe 2006 ish. Then down to 13, then 12 then was a 10m purist for a good 6 years. Have had a 12 the last few years but it gets about half the use my 8m sees.

Mostly just pulling your string. Not really that emotionally invested in what others choose.

You obviously need a big kite. I might feel differently if I lived where you do.

Discussion was why do people want fast kites? You yourself want as fast a big kite as possible to complement your impeccably honed skill set 😉

I guess I just prefer a fast kite to make up for my meagre talents.
