Hi all, I am locking to buy my first board. Any sugestion abour the size?
My data are : 60K, 135pound for 174cm 5"7
I had already bought a fuel 10m.

Go for a not too small/thin one.
Around 1,75 will be fine.

Hey. The good thing about kitesurfing is you learn really fast. So you out grow the bigger boards fast. You are pretty light so I would say something between 4'10 and 5'6
depending on how quick you improve. Don't buy it right away. Borrow or rent a bigger board for your first 3 or 4 tries with the board ( once you are good at bodydragging ). Once you get up and going pretty far on the big board, start trying smaller ones. Reading what I just wrote it sounds kinna confusing... Borrow something for a few tries see how you feel. Remember you will outgrow your board quicker than your kite and once you work out how to stay upwind you could sail on anything.

My first board is takoon curver 184 , i couldnt use it on the water yet but it is best for you to buy a big board to start .. My friends bought a Naish X2 and a naish bidirectional board 165 cm .. they are having difficulties while riding the board because it is too small for a beginner ..

I wouldn't say generally that a bigger board is easier riding. It always depends on the board and its shape. You can ride on a 144 for your first time without any probs, but maybe have a nightmare with an 185.
Just had this situation 2 weeks ago.
A girl was riding a thicker 170 board (can't remember the brand). It didn't look nice and relaxed when she was on it.
Then I gave her my 144 to test it and she had absolutely no probs and had a great time.

So don't judge by size, judge by each model.

What do you kiter think about the slingshot zepplin for a first board ? I find one demo for 550 US$, some friends told me that is too much radical for a first board. I had try once with a big directional and I was able to stand on it without too much difficulties ( in the other direction an other stories) Thank for the tips.

i started on a stonker tt180 and found that to be a really good board i the progressed to the smaller shark 170/150 which i found to be really good. try dropping mail to kitedude@kitedemon.com they sorted me out, good look

The Zeppelin is really small. So small that you probably will be buying a little bit bigger=wider board later on. Or at least will be getting a 2-board-quiver.

The Drake could be your 1-board-quiver.

And I agree, that it's best to buy a cheap bigger board for your first few sessions.

PS I'm riding a Drake and so are 2 other kitemates. I weight about the same as you do.

I use a 6ft (180cm) underground directionial. I also started off on this board.... had no probs whatsoever. Was up and going in the first few attempts.

I was using a 6m C Quad which is equivilant in projected size to a 12m inflatable kite. But I'm 75kgs so the heavier weight would cancel out the difference in kite size.
