I currentlyt own two kites, AB2002 11.8 for lighter winds and an Aero 12 (first kite I bought).

In strong winds I don't like the way the Aero behaves, it races toward the edge and is difficult to keep in the powerzone.

I'm looking for a third kite for Bft 6 and higher, and have decided to go for an X2. Who's flown the 8m and what was it like? Is the difference between 8 and 10 big enough or is 10 the better choice?

Go for the 8, the 10 is too close to your 12. You probably won't use the 8 too much though..

Good luck

yeah, and the 11.8 is also too close to the 12. anyway, got the 8 X2 & when comparing to the aero 8 which I did, the X2 is a lot better performing kite although sometimes a bit 'nervious'. just use the inner attachment points in the beginning. but perhaps the new areo 2003 in 8m must be even better since they incresed the aspect ratio & used a lot of stuff coming from the X2 like leading edge & rucket struts.

I would like to add to the 8m X2 line. Right now I have the ARX 7.5 and want to replace with the X2.
These are the things I would like to know:
Can the X2 depower more than the ARX 7.5?
Is it 'slower' in the air that my old ARX as right now I enjoy the 12 m X2 but find the ARX7.5 to fast in comparison.
Since I am on a role, does the 8m X2 also have more power in lower winds than the ARX.
Thanks

You should try the kite first, because your comments on the Aero make me think you will hate the X2. It will race to the edge twice as fast as the Aero.

Hi MissingLink,

better try the X2 first, he's frickin' faster then your 7.5 ARX & I don't think it has more power in lighter winds; the depowering you can adjust yourself. if you have the chance, try the 8m Aero 2003 as well cause I think it will be THE smaller kite on the market.

Btw, I'm comin' over to SA in the beginning of Nov. Do you use the 7.5 a lot over there?

In summer (ie Oct - April), Cape Town has a great SEaster (cross shore in Blouberg). I use my 7.5 a lot, otherwise in the morning a 12x2/11.5 ARX is great. But summer is 7.5 conditions for sure (BTW: weight is 80kg, 1.5m twintip). The 7.5/11.5 combination is my only combination and is fine here IMO.
