I have had a 4.2m CQUAD for about 10 months and have broken the main spar 3 times now! i use the kite on land for boarding, is this amount of breakages normal and if it isn't how the hell do i stop it! I'm thinking of upgrading to the 6 metre but if it is going to keep breaking i may not, what do people suggest? is the CQUAD worth it or not?

Are the breakages caused by crashes or when packing the kite away.

I've had a 4.2m C Quad for 1 and a half years and have broken the leading edge quite a few times.

This was more common earlier on when I didn't know how to fly the kite properly...

But now I have less hassle with C Quad repairs than I do with my inflatable kites...

I buggy using C Quads and I've found them to be very good kites. They are far better for buggying than they are for kitesurfing.

C Quads can be depowered which comes in handy and they are far faster responding than LEI kites.

Have you considered the Hi-ARC from Peter Lynn?

Depower, use with bar, no luffing, great upwind, no bridles.....

Designed for mountainboarding.....

I have found that each of the four times I've replaced the leading edge, (6.3 once, 4.2 twice and 2.2 once)they have all been broken when they've been taken out of the bag to start a days flying!
So after I started to carry spare LE's I also decided to leave the end seams unsewn and have fitted home made retained knocks with a bungee cord, just like delta stunt kites have on their tips and to date it has worked very well.
So the next time I need to replace the LE it should be much quicker!

I found that on my big 8.5m C Quad the leading edge takes less time to replace than my 4.2 and 6.3.....
