Anyone had any experience with Ocean Rodeo's kitesurfing dry suit? is it comfy? is it truly waterproof? are there any problems?

Thanks,
vp

I've seen it, but didn't try it on. It is the most durable baggy suit I've ever seen. Once you see it, you understand why it cost more than other baggy suits.

Is it dry? No dry suit can be perfectly dry. All drysuits get air inside the suit. If you go underwater, the air must burp out. This is when dry suits let water in. Keep your neck above water, and you stay mostly dry. Air tends to burp out the neck seal on ALL dry suits.

Dry suits are still warmer than wetsuits, and worth the money.

All baggy suits are comfy.

Thanks for the info. So there are other companies that make dry suits for kitesurfing? Maybe something cheaper then $500?

Oh yeah, standard wakeboarding drysuits are half the cost. Same design as Ocean Rodeo with thinner lighter materials.

Kokatat makes a nice dry suit designed for whitewater kayaking and rafting. it sells for $338.00. One of the supliers for Kokatat is http://www.nrsweb.com . I don't own that particular drysuit but I have used some of their other jackets and they are durable and well made with extreme whitewater capabilities. As for drysuits--I have a dry top I use for ww kayaking and I do stay totally dry except for sweat. The neck gasket must fit (with proper trimming as instructed) and you must "burp" the suit when you put it on. This gets the air out of the suit. I haven't checked the "nrs" web catalog but I have their catalog they mail out. They have 5 different drysuits in the summer 2002 catalog with the most expensive being 630.00 and made from GORE-TEX. their phone is 1-800-635-5202 (Indiana, USA)

Kokotat makes one of the top end suits. You can get them fully goretex, which is a big plus because you don't sweat like a dog when rigging and riding, plus they make them with an optional piss-zip which means you don't have to keep taking the thing off. All drysuits can leak if you impact the right way.
