Almost all production boards are heavy. Pick up any Naish from last year and decide for yourself if this weight is acceptable. Some production boards are lighter, like Slingshot. All the made is China stuff seems to be about the same, slightly heavy.
I own a 4,9 Naish twin tip and they are a slightly bit heavier than a light board but they are extreemly well constructed everything about the board is durable. The brass inserts for the leash and footstraps are really nice. Forget the slingshot boards there construction is rubbish they all delaminate eventually and the inserts for the footstraps pull out. I could never buy that board after seeing a few old ones. The sharp rail is seriously dangerous too. The 4,9 gets going very early and is very easy to sail toeside. The eight fins seems a bit overkill but you can play around endlessly with different combinations. Takeing away fins seems to make the board sail a little smoother. It has nice grip but I find it gets a little bouncy in chop. They are beautiful boards to look at.
