Sorry for bothering everybody with this subject again and again, but I have got confirmation that the Rhino2 will be available here sometime next week => decision time!

The question is what size (14 or 16) fits better having a BT 7.0 2001 as small kite. My weight is 67kg and my level is reasonably good; main board will be a Gaastra Chip 142 (142x37).

Here is what was said so far... as you can read it all looks very reasonable, and everytime the advice is different!:
I suggest you the size of 14 sqm, otherwiuse the gap will be too big to 9.5 and with your weight the 14 will pull early and it is more fun to ride with since the 16 will be slower than the 14.

I will not comment about the type of kite, but I can tell you I highly suggest the 16 over the 14m if you already have a 9.5m. Myself and others I kite waith have the Naish 9.5m (arx for me X2 for the others) and the North Rhino 16m. And we find not gap at all. At 18 knots the North gets a bit too overpowering for us and then the 9.5 is great. Under 15 knots the 9.5 is pretty much useless and the 16 North is excellent.

I have never flown the 14m but I would not want my bigger kite having a higher wind range. I think that would overlap with the 9.5 way too much!

Cheers

Anthony
a 7.0er Blacktip is about 9,5 Naish/North and that's it..
so a 16er Rhino is 6,5 meter² bigger than your
7,0er and the 14 is 4,5m² bigger....

I'd say go for 14..
you can still get 18 or 20 later if you want even more low end power...
Anybody has the FINAL answer???

Thanks a lot in advance!

Geronymous.

well, I have now tried the Rhino 2 in size 16 and I can say it holds much more wind than last year's model, while it turns faster and creates much more apparent wind in the lows.

As you have a tiny board, if your level is good, you will be able to handle the new Rhino 16 until you can comfortably get going on your BT 7.0.

And at 67 kg, please believe me, you will not need anything bigger than a Rhino 2 16. Just try it!!!

The new Rhino 16 is as or more powerful than an X2 18.

Thanks prankster.

Toby, have you been able to test these kites already?

not yet unfortunately.

Germany gets next week the first Rhino2, but only a few.
Then I will test it and let you know.

In about 2 weeks there will be enough Kites for all German shops, then we will have test reviews by more people.

Cheers
Toby

Plan for the future. Buy the 16m, because after you fly it, you will want the 10m to replace the Cabrinha.

I flew a prototype kite yesterday. I was shocked at how much better kites have become. That's all I can say.

Thanks Dwight. So you are saying that 16-10 is a good combination? If I look at what other people here have, I often see 16-12-8... that's what I was concerned about the gap between the 16 and the 10.

A 14 to 10 gap would be good for older kites. For 2003 I think the 16 to 10 will be OK.

My personal kite quiver goes 16 to 12. That is very comfortable, with a lot of overlap. This is using old original Rhinos. So for 2003, I see 16 to 10 as being reasonable.

Dwight or Prankster:

If I'm planning a quiver of 3 kites (of course Rhino 2) and I want a light wind kite of 20m and the smallest a 10m which one you choose a 16 or a 14?

Thank you in advance.

14 for sure. You want the bigger gap between the lighter wind sizes. That's were kites overlap the most.

14.
the rhino2 has more power in the low end and is overpowered pretty fast ...
