First Nemesis 10m session!

Postby Wawando » Wed May 05, 2004 11:11 pm

Hi,

This was it: 21-23 knots before entering the water made me opt for the 10m, although my beloved R04 12m would have been the right choice, but couldn't wait any longer to test the new toy, so...

Conditions:
Wind: 15 (yes fifteen) to 23 knots on-shore (60 degrees)
Board: RRD XX 138x35 and F-One Style 130x39
Kite: Best Nemesis 10m
Water: rough sea with 0,5m to 1+m sets

When i ended setting up the wind dropped to around 18 knots. The kite is very, very steady, flies very fast and turns as a 10m does: on a dime. Felt at home in the minute i entered the water. This is the best effect one can expect: it means that the kite flies very, very well! Even when i had a missunderstanding with a wave, to my surprise it just went back to it's position with no sign of wanting to hit the water.
What impressed me most was that with such relatively low wind i had no problem staying upwind! Jumps where very good (can't wait to ride it lit up ;-) ).
Conclusion: Highly recomended!!! The Nemesis 10m is a very, very good kite. No problems found. Only goodies! So for a lower price, it owes nothing to the others on the market. There is a bad thing... THE PUMP! Someone has a size problem at Best...

I am surprised by the overlap in windrange with the R04 12m so i am curious about the top end.

About the boards: both very good! The XX 135x38 keeps impressing me. For today i felt that the Style is better as it is very, very good for wave riding. The XX is more free style oriented. If i had to choose one it would be the Style one size down (about 37 width or something like that).

Note: i never heard a bad feedback of a 10m kite :thumb:

Final comment: So far (with only one session in the Nemesis and at different size) i still prefer R04. But for the price difference...

See you! :thumb:

About the pump. I have a Nemesis 12m and it came with a great pump, standard size! I use it everytime. I guess sizes 10m and lower only get that small pump...

Have fun!

Today I was in 12 knots with my X3 18m. Because the little brother of my girl friend wanted to give it a try for the first time I also pumped up my Nemesis 10m.

Believe or not, me with my 81kgs and Thorn 1.29 was ripping on the water with a 10m Nemesis in 12 knots wind where others with 14/16/18 where struggling with staying upwind! The Nemesis 10m is a great kite!

I met a guy on Oahu that uses an EH Freestyle 12 as his primary (only?) kite, even though its usually a 16m-18m kite spot. There was a day when everyone was out on 16's, he was still way upwind of everyone. Guy looked pretty average size, maybe a little light.

Seems like the key to these kites is to get up to speed. Once you are up to speed its almost like the wind doesn't even matter. I find that I become more aware of the water terrain than the wind. Usually its big chop that slows me down, not a lull.

Hi,

I finally got another session with the 10m (standard 27m lines). Amazing. This is the wind i like to ride. Waves & huge flying. Kite is perfect. Never felt overpowered (nor close to it).
Conditions where small waves (1m sets) with on-shore wind Weather station above the cliff 28knots with 32 knots gusts.
The kite is really up to it. What amazes me is that on the other day i was going upwind with no problem close to 15 knots and now at around 30 i am still doing just fine! Same rider, board, harness...
I was thinking that the 8m would be the ideal compliment for the 12m but with all the confort at 30knots with 10m, i wonder with what wind will i ride the 8m... :D
The kite is very stable and you can throw it to where ever you want (learning to wave ride now...) that it will be always fine!
I still prefer the R04 but with a really good Best deal it's unresistable and worth every € spent! I wonder what will i do next year... 8)

10m has huge range... I think it starts maybe 2 knots later than 12m, but goes for 6-8 knots more at the top end. You can oversheet it to no end and it never causes trouble. Jumping can be tough to time because of the quickness of the kite, but its great when you nail it.
