Board questions

Postby lemur » Sun May 09, 2004 12:37 pm

I have built 1 board that turned out ok...it was a single peice of ply that I put some "kurf' cuts at ends then put a mixture of epoxy and sawdust into cuts and weighed center down to give it rocker...looks like shit but works...heheh

Here in atlantic Canada our season is WAY toooo short .... I do not at this stage want to spend alot of timemoney and think 3 layers of thin ply are way to go..Other suggestions welcomed...however I might give a ply-foam-ply combo a try....

What type of foam do you use?..What thicknes of plyfoam?....what else is this foam used for?....What is ABS....Only abs I know of is plastic plumbing pipe.....Can some one explain "3 stage" rocker?...

i am only 60kg130lbs and water conditions range from flat to chop....

Finally I am teaching a buddy who is 110kg240lbs and other than BIG I have no Idea what size board he should start with.....

LOVE THIS SPORTFORUM..........thanks in advance

3 stage rocker is like \_/ 1-2-3 flat in the middle flipped up at the ends

good luck, and fyi I bought a navy seal dry suit on ebay that lets me ride all year round. I got it a few months ago when there was still some ice in the sand, water was completely defrosted and I was TOASTY

have fun

3 layers of 1/8" ply would work great at your weight.

I used 4 layers of 1/8" to build this board, which was plenty stiff for me at 195lbs:
