Another Yarga Review but this one is by me.

Postby Guest » Thu May 20, 2004 8:40 pm

About a month ago I bought three smaller Yarga’s, 7, 9 & 11 and three larger Nemesis. Now I think I know enough about the Yarga’s to write a review. The only kites I can compare them to are the first edition Rhino’s I have flown the last couple of years. Also, although I have been kiting about 90 days per year for three years now, I am mediocre because all I try to do is jump and ride waves. My most intricate jump is a transition jump. By the way, I could afford any kites but I decided to give Best a try because they are so friggin cheap which is a perfect match for my “Psycho-cheapâ€

I'm curious, what's your wind range on the 7m and 9m Yarga's? I'm thinking about getting a small Yarga but can't pick between the two. Was going to pair it up with a 10m Nemesis, and I think the 9m would be too big to get me any more wind range (I can hold the 10m till 30mph no problem), but I do like the idea of having a mid AR option for high wind (even if it does overlap with the 10m Nemesis.)

Dax,

I weigh 165 lbs and with the 9m I am comfortable in gusts up to 35 mph when I am on a 145cm board that is 15.5" wide (big wave board). On my smaller board I would probably be fine in gusts to 40. My 7m is probably good in winds averaging 30-40 on my small slow board with too much rocker. I wouldn't use the 7m in wind less than 25 mph.

If you like the Nemesis up to 30 mph then I would get the Yarga 7 unless it almost never blows 40 where you kite.

I hope that helps.

I haven't tried the high end of the 9 Yarga yet, but the low end is pretty low. Been riding and jumping in 15 Knots (85kg).

I'd guess the sweet spot of the kite is around 20 knots.

So i would definately go with the 7.

I have the 7m Yarga, been out twice on it I'm guessing 40km to 60km, I weight 185 lbs, at 40km/h I was working it but when a gust hit it was no problem.
