Yep, and then Toby when something happens 500 meters from shore in those conditions, you´re dead. Quite simple. I know, I have been windsurfing in 0...4 C water & air temperatures. Not funny at all. Specially if you must swim ashore because of whatever reason. You always forget that getting out there with the kite takes one minute and swimming back takes one hour.

good point, but I ride in winter only at beaches where I can stand and have sideshore, side on and onshore winds.
Today we had about 8 degrees Celsius and water has about 4. Everything went smooth and it was a great day. Never felt cold. I wear a drysuit, mask with vest, lycra, shoes and gloves. So it is quiet ok, since I never ride far away from shore.
But you are right, it can be very dangerous and exhausting if you have to swim back.

BTW what is your name, you always post without?
