Hello,

I am an experienced rider looking to buy a Wavetray. I have been riding small wakeboards with bindings and now want to ride footstraps. I am curious if I should buy a 147 or a 142. I am 180 lbs.

Also, has anyone put any extra fins on their wavetray?

Thanks for any info,

Bryan

Buy the wave tray width that matches what you normally ride. If I had to own one WT it would be 147, but I have two, so it's 142 and a wide 147 for me. I'm 184 lbs.

You don't need extra fins. They have been tried. Go larger, if the board is too skatey for you.

Bryan, you can go either way (142 or 147) and be fine. If you're used to small wakeboards then maybe the 142 is a more natural transition. The wavetrays don't need extra fins. They come with 4x35mm but you can order them with bigger fins if you like. I ride my WT137 with 2x50mm (heel side) & 2x35mm (toe side). This is personal preference and may also depend on the sea conditions you are riding. Most people like them with the standard 35mm.

ctkiteboarding, I'm 65kg and when I tried the 157 in light winds it gave me the feeling that I would enjoy the 147 much better when reasonably powered up with big kites. The 157 is too big for me but more fun with underpowered sailing.

If you're in the US, our local kite shop keeps them in stock. http://www.blowinginthewind.com

A stock 147 x 15" would be a good step up. I'm 184 and my light wind board is 147 x 16". I'd guess a custom 147cm x 15.75" would be perfect. (that's the width of a stock 157)

Delivery on custom sizes is quicker now that winter is coming. 2-3 weeks now.

Hi Dwight,

Hows your 147x16" going? I am considering doing the same or similar thing for lighter winds. Do you think a 147 could be any wider? or would that just get rediculous?
How much earlier do you get going on the 16" than you would on a standard 147?

I'm tossing up wether to go to 157 length as well, but I'd prefure not to.

Cheers
Callum

I like the 41 wide board a lot. A wide 157 is way to big for me. With all the extra length of the 157 PLUS width, it's way too much board for me. It burns the legs out quick. The new SB will be this width too. You could get the new SB when it comes out, or get a 147 x 41 which should be similar in power.
