2002 vs 2003

Is there really that big a difference between the 2002 big kites and the new ones? ie turning.

I think last year we had some huge improvements on durability. This year it has been performance.

The durability will effect my kiting, the performance won't...thats the way I see it.

How would performance NOT affect your kiting?

well .. if you knock a 2001 kite into the zenit and let it there in gusty conditions, you'll experience something called 'frontstall'.
most of the 2002 kites just drift back a little and catch themselves again.

some of the spicy 2002 kites don't lift you, they shoot you up into the sky that you nearly wet your suit.

most of the 2002 kites, even the big sizes, are
easy to relaunch out of the water.

from last year to this year, a lot of things happened.

so there's a lot to expect from 2003 material.
but i think it's not too necessary to change kites again.
kitesurfing has never been so easy and comfortable as it is now, and i think that most 2003 kites will offer wider windranges, more lift, more hangtime ...
lots of things that are cool, alright, but there's not much left that's a real pain in the ass and needs to be stopped in the behaviour of most 2002 tubekites.

I don't believe the difference between the 2002 and 2003 will effect my performance (and anyone else unless you are an intermediate/advanced rider). Thats what I meant. i.e. between an X2 and 2002 BT, there is going to be no real marked improvement in my kiting except for possibly an increased wind range...the rest will only come as the skill levels improve.

Like someone said before, lou wainman is out pulling 50 foot on a foil, skill is 90%...kite is 10%

Mission Man, I disagree. I think a kites perfomance has huge benefits. Look at the competition scene. Not many old wipikas out there. I agree skill is most of it, but kite performance makes a difference as well.

As you said, competition scene.i.e. advanced kiters. As I said, not gonna make a HUGE difference at anything other than intermediate/advanced up.

Yeah, I would love a 2003, and yeah, I'll probably get one, or two, or three (what can I say, I love toys) Yes, the kites are probably sweeter, and probably feel slightly better, but its not going to stop my learning curve not getting one.
