Old Wipika Free-air sizes (2000)?

Does anyone know the actual sizes of the old Wipika Free-air's from year 2000?

As I had an old 6.5m and it seemed smaller than a Naish 9.5m, just wanted to replace it with a kite of similar size for high wind excursions!

From memory they were basic flat sizes, a 8.5 was 8.5 flat, 6.5 was 6.5 flat - thats why the 9.5 seams bigger - it's 3m bigger!

the 2000's are measured flat.
exept the 16m, that's a lil bigger than 16m.

6.5 times the 1.36 conversion ratio gives you 8.84 flat (Naish sizing). So your 9.5 would be a little bigger. The newer Naish design might also have more range. The above conversion ratio commonly used is only a rough guidline due to different kite designs.

Anyone else have any info on this? I was under the understanding that Wipika always used Wipika sizing, from the classics on and that the intent was to make it easier for windsurfers to choose an appropriate size. I have never heard from dealers or any one else that Wipika used flat sizing in any particular year or group of years. I also understand that Wipika sizing is different than projected area sizing. Projected more closely represents the actual amount of kite cloth exposed to the wind, kind of like what is used for bridled foils.

as far as i know,
the 2000 naish kite projected area was for windsurfers (ar5 and ar3.5) you can see it when you take a look @ the same sized ar3.5 and r3 or at the ar5 and arx. all the old ones have about 2 meters less projected.
all the new ones are with factor 1.35.

I know it's confusing, but FA2000 had to be multiplied by 1.2 to get flatsize.
In 2001 the multiplier got 1.35.

I had an 6.5 and 11m and checked it myself.
So 6.5 x 1.2 makes 7.8m flat.
