What can we do that kitesurfing becomes a discipline of Olympia?
It has to be introduced before, so we should push it for Greece 2004 !

As we know, due to Olimpics winsurfing looks like kind of sport from 80ies thus spliting windsurfers in too many groups. I would even say Olimpic Commity is against any progress. They voted for the same ancient Mistral board as last Games. Argument is that Olimpic Games have to be "democratic" therefore new Formula was ignored. Competitions were started only when wind force was below the minimum of Formula limit. Behind all of that is money from Mistral. At least thats what my friends taking part in Olimpics say. Thay look really sad when they are forced to start training on those freaky boards before Olimpic events.

Dont you think the same could happen with kitesurfing as well?
IOC will accept only one type of kite for at least 4 years. But as you know one year old kite is already outdated.

Well, when we do it the right way and tell them that every competitor will use its own stuff and type of kite, they have to accept it, or we don't do it.
Our sport will get so much attraction the next years, also snowkiting, that they should think twice of pushing their rules or accepting our rules.
To be honest, what would be more spectacular, windsurf freestyle or kitesurfing freestyle? Not every country has conditions like Hawaii and flatwater windsurfing isn't that great, isn't it?
So the Olympic comitee should also offer something to the world of sports, and kitesurfing is at the moment THE new sport.

toby, did you ever see olympic windsurfing?
there are a lot of guys, all using the same board / rigg which they recieve just before starting.
and they just race a track. it's like sailing.
no one going big, no tricks, no freestyle or waveriding or else.

do you had in mind to rape the sport like figure-skating to make it measurable?


the simple way it is done right now ('to win, impress the judges') is not olympic.

well he won a couple of world-championships - but the things that stay in mind are these crazy stunts - like the wave he jumped and went higher than the helicopter that was filming him ...


these are the things that matter ...
the spirit is still out there, but you cannot measure it.

I don't think so!

Olympia is about the spirit. Not the competition (for the most people). Specially for surfers in general.

And not all countries have good windsurfing conditions but enough for kitesurfing.

Why not ask the comitee if riders can use different materials.

the only real freestyle - thing i know os freestyle swimming.

you might appreciate 'em more after that.
