Got 4 e-mails already asking about sizes and winds so if you are planning a holiday then anytime at all after December all the way through to late Oct. is a guarantee. Wave seasson is the same as Hawaaii...winter. Sizes of kite range depending on location... North shore 11.9 RRD, west coast 8.9 or smaller, South shore 11.9 or 8.9. Enjoy

One good thing about PR's relatively constant weather conditions is how it allows novice riders, like me, to progress very rapidly. The best thing is the friendly local crew at ocean park beach.

I was looking for wind conditions for the DR and came upon:

http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/sail_namk.htm

....first: click on Caribbean in left column....second click on DR or PR in same column (they are the same window).

For Sat. 16 Feb the DR wins the race for wind...by a puff. I was quite suprised how much larger the DR is over PR. PR seems pretty big when you are there! Busy anway. Fun place.

Hi Jim,

IMO PR wins!
Outside of the DR is always wind, but at the shores it doesn't look like this!
As mentioned above IMO PR has more windssince the winds go over it. The DR is larger therefore the thermal keeps away the wind from the shores. But maybe this is in winter only and because of being bigger it has stronger winds in summer.
Does anyone have windstats from the DR and PR? For sure one day I will go to PR.

Hey Royce, are you coming to Miami for the masters?

Hey Toby. Don't know yet. Whats the date for that one? I will be in St. Marten for the King of the Bay there on March 26, 27, but from there I don't have anything till April. Is it warming up there yet or do I have to get a wetsuit? PS make sure you warn me on when you're coming over so I can alert the coast guard early. HA.

Toby. Looks like I will be there. Look forward to sailing with you. Hows the wind been? The timing on it and the one in St. Marten are close but should be cool.
Aloha Royce.

cool, but don't ride too good, otherwise you have to explain me every trick

I don't know about the winds, but supposed to Rick Iossi from the FKA this time is the best for winds.
The weather station for miami is at the airport, so it may show less wind than it really is. And if there is no wind, we could drive down to the keys and catch some wind there!

Stay in touch
Toby

This you don't have to mention anymore since it happend to almost all: "Royce has almost given up windsurfing is comitted to kitesurfing"

Nice pics. RRD distributor?
When do you get the new RRD kites?
As soon as you have them, post a report!
I'm very interested in the Supertype.
Maybe you can bring them on to Miami?

Cheers
Toby
