Hi guys from New York, what is the temperature of the ocean currently? Do I need a dry wetsuit?

it's definitely getting colder. the water temp is ok for a full wettie, but if it's windy (and that's the hope, right?) then you'll probably want a dry suit. most of the guys around here who own dry suits are wearing them already, though there are folks going out in wetsuits with hoods and such....then driving home in them since it's too cold to take them off......bring the dry suit!

Even though the oceans and bays have a huge amount of thermal mass, the temp can change by as much as 10 deg in just a day or two. This happens when we get two days straight of warm SW winds - which bring in all of the surface water. When the winds switch back to the North out goes the surface water and the water temp plunges.
