Contra 23.5 Wicked!

Postby Pimp » Wed Nov 17, 2004 7:20 am

Must say it's hard to find out the truth on products from this forum. I made 2 mistakes purchasing after hearing good thing from here. Finally I bought a kite that kicks ass.

I weigh 230 pounds 104 kg ride a Lab Rat and am intermediate I guess.

The 23.5 Contra is the first kte that can get me going from under 4 ms of wind up to 7 or 8 ms. The kite looks loike a monster on the beach and I think near impossible to self launch on land, but once in the air the kite is perfect! Due to the carbon bars the kite turns very fast like a smaller kite and doen't feel big in the air at all.

No jelly fish either. The bar and lines are the best I have use to date and the kte rips up wind. as long as there are the tiniest of white caps I can get going.

The other day I was on the 23.5 and another guy was on is 12 Boxer, so hi end is also great.

If you are over 100kg I would get this kite for sure. Under that maybe the 19 is better.

Hi Pimp.
I agree with you, the 23,5 rocks, even if you weigh less (85 Kgs).
It turns even better when you use the recon2 bar, so don't hesitate to get one when they come out.
The impression I have is that I am riding a kite with short lines, the beast is so big in the air.
Only bitch is the pumping up, this can flatten your batteries pretty good.
Enjoy.

Nico I weigh 150 lbs how much do you weigh and what typ of winds, and board are you on. I use a Hein 127 and I'm trying to decide between a 19.5 or the monster.

Kiteman, I weigh 157lbs and I have the Contra 19.5, which is perfect for my weight. I think the 23.5 would give you maybe 1mph lower, lower end, but sacrifice more on the top end. I can't handle much more than 18-22mph. I'd leave the 23.5 for the big boys, you are not going to have a lot of range. The 19.5 is a great kite, you won't be dissappointed.

Kiteman, I weigh 85 Kgs.
I got the 23,5 cause I wanted the ultimate light wind machine.
I do not use an anemometer, so cannot give you exact figures regarding wind strength, but have used the beast in various conditions.
The most memorable session was with a 140 Icon on white horse free water. On that same day, with exactly the same conditions I rode a surfboard and a 2005 12mt nitro.
To me this shows the incredible range of both kites, and I am not too worried about the slack wind days coming up this summer.
