Very interested to hear if you've been back on your R4s for a couple of sessions to see what if anything the R5 is mising. I plan to do this once I pick mine up, but I've found that waiting until late spring to get the new model, North seems to have fixed the reinforcement or wear as well as any other problems with the kite.

In regards to the 5th element and micro loop, I'm thinking a 3pronged hook would fix the problem of twist and allow you to use it more. I wouldn't imagine that you need the mirco loop as much though on the lower AR kite since you always have the powered feel.
Hi,

Thanks. The perfect quiver is definitly 16+12+9 (for my conditions). But for the 9 i would go for a 5the-less kite as in those conditions i only ride waves & i don't wnat to even think about 5thE-wrapping hypothesis.
9m Vegas would be perfect. But i think there will not be a 9m vegas05...
Don't bother about twist. Completely a non-issue with 5thE bar.
I use the microloop more with r05 than i did with r04 and it likes more bar "presence".

Bye!

The 05 20 meter w/fifth element is amazing. I had the 04 20M Rhino, and when I added the fifth element I was happy with the higher end power, and better release/relaunch, but I was displeased with how it took away from the turning speed.

The 05 20 meter turns a touch faster than the 04 (before adding the fifth element). I am so impressed with the amount of lift that this kite can generate. I flew it in San Felipe in everything from 9Mph to 22Mph. I weigh 185 and was lit the whole time. The low end was better than any kite I have flown, and the high end....well I was able to comfortably hold it down in 20+Mph. Way to go North!!

I would love to post the picture of my 20 Meter 05 Rhino, but I don't know how. I tried the Faq, but it didn't really help. Does anyone know how to post a picture in plain english?

For the meantime I posted it on http://www.calikites.com with our photo album/ kites.

Again please help our photo album grow.

cali, did you use the noseline at the length it came or did you lengthen it? are your rear lines rigged on the last knot on the leaders (the knot farthest away from the bar)? do you also fly a r5 16?

I just ordered the 05 R14 and will hopefully have a chance to use it soon, but no I don't have any experiance with it yet. I use the nose line that came with the kite (it is tuned perfect). I have the turning lines connected to the second to last knot (1 back from where you were talking about) When I switch to my 04 vegas 10m I Have to move the outside lines to the closest knot to the bar (I actually tied another knot about an inch closer than the closest knot)

yup the one that came in the bag worked perfect! Are you using a custom fifth line? I havn't heard of anyone who had to change the lenght of there nose line.

I have a 2004 vegas 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and a 05 rhino 16 and of course the 5th E bar. I have flown the rhino 16, vegas 16 and vegas 12 on the 5th E bar and had to makee the noseline longer on all of them. I have not yet had a chance to fly the 6, 8, 10, 14. Thats why I as mo curious.

12cm longer for both 12m and 16m R05s after about 10 sessions.
