Ive a friend (girl) that weight 45kg and already has an AHD T-Type 158.She is riding an wipika airblast 12m 2001 and she is starting to go upwind but i really dont know which kite is best for her. We mostly ride lightwinds here, 8-15 knots sometimes 20 knots but not very often.

I would like to ear some opinions. Thanks.

i don't think i understand what you're asking. she's already riding an airblast (though there is no size 12, maybe you mean the 11.8 or the 8.4 which is about 12 flat?), so i'd say the best kite for her is the one she's already flying.

Yes she is riding the airblast 8.4 (about 12m flat), but she´s not sure if that is the right kite and size for her.

When you have 45 kg and the wind gets a little stronger its dificult to old an edge

I think its the perfect kite for her, because of its upper windrange !

It is one of the easiest high performance kites to hold an edge, because you can sheet out much more than on other kites (on cost of poor low end - but with 45kg thats no problem i guess...)

you know your site and the gals skill level the 8,4 is good for 12 to 20 and the next smaller size AB is the 6.3 which is a very different animal blazeing fast, wicked kick your butt if you loose control, and to small for 12 to 20?

I am a petite kiter. I have found the question is (like with all kiters) what is the right kite for the conditions. At 45Kg you do get overpowered easily and pulled off your edge more easily but its the same physics of the heavier kiters. I have flown everything from 3 to a 15.5, upwind. Its very important for her to fly the kite low to the water because she will be pulled off her edge easier (than the heaver kiter)if the kite is high. I found the board to be more importantant than the kite. small bodies ussually mean small feet. are her feet close enough to the edge to be able to bury the rail? I don't know if this helps but I am another smaller kiter. I am on 137 tt and I fly the wipika 8.4 in 15-20mph and the 7.5 nash in 20-25 and 5.5 25-30 and a 4.0 in 30+

Definately seems to be right size kite for conditions but board could make the difference in this situation.
