lookin for a big kite to compliment an 8.4AB and have in mind an 11.8AB, 12.5 Skoop and 15.1 Mach1. If speed of kite equals power which is the fastest. Thanks

i've been flying the 8.4, 11.8 combo for a couple years and it's great. the 11.8 is a fast kite, and because of this i can extend the low end by quite a bit (actually depowering the kite a bit so it turns and flies faster than at full power). using the bridles helps with this since your arms don't get as tired as fast.
can't comment on the other two kites since i haven't flown them, but the takoon is considered by many to be the next generation airblast. i hear it's a very light kite so this would theoretically help in light winds as well. there is no wingtip reinforcement in the form of dacron or mylar, they just use the canopy material all the way to the tips and distribute the load from the attachment points in a similar fashion as with light sails. i hear the f-one is very fast.
good luck

The fastest kites aren't allways the most powerful.... look for a kite with a deep foil..... Slingshot, North, AERO etc are all good powerful kites......
The X2 isn't powerful for low end performance....
I use a 20m AERO and canget going in 8 knots....

I heard very good things about the Gaastra GXR 19.5. Couldn't test it myself, but I have been told that it turns really fast, pulls early and has a nice lift and hangtime.
ALso think that the Rhino2 are good kites, but didn't test it myself.

Psycho 12.5m very tubekite like feeling and has good overlap with your AB8.4 and gets you going in 10-12knots.

The 8,4 is a small kite. It s range begun at 14 knots aprox . up to 22/25. So you need a kite that goes up to 16 KT for a acceptable overlap. If you like the airblast feeling go for an X2 18. Much better than a AB 11,8, faster and more power, lighter on the bar (w/bridles) very sweet overall feeling, and better hangtime.
The Takoon 12 is slower, the 10.5 is small.

I agree, the X2 -18 would be a good choice, it is the equivalent size to the 11.8, but has a bit more power low down, 8-16 knots for a 75kg rider with a tray, 18 knots with the front line attachment setting, great hangtime and lift, more stable than the AB's, very fun kite to use (can't say that about every big kite!!)

The Gaastra 16.5, I ride it today with some other kites in the water, wind 10-16 knots, better then: ARX 15.5m', X2 16m' and AB 11.8m' (faster go better up wind and jumps great).
