some question - newbie !

Postby trozen » Thu Mar 24, 2005 10:24 am

i'm getting lost with all the info so excuse me :(
when you say "6oz" glass - do you mean the fabric weight (kg/m^2)?
i want to glass the final "product" after all the layers of fabric...

so i have to wait for full dry ? then i'll have to sand it again for the final glass ? then wet it with my epoxy resin ?
or the glass is something else ?

how do you give the final touch ? for the shining glasss ?

6oz is the weight.

The glass is the fiberglass, it's wet with the epoxy to get it's stiffness and strength. After adding the amount of layers you want (amount of layers depends on kind of foam and other variables) You will put your hotcoat on which is basicly a thin layer of epoxy over the glass. You will sand and polish this layer to get a smooth finish.

When people say "6 ounce glass" what they really mean is 6 oz per square yard.

Just like in europe you might say "200g fabric", when what you really mean is 200 grams per square meter.
