Hey, below is quoted an email I recieved from Tom S., who bought one of my 150x46 lightwind twintips. He also has mentioned elsewhere that he thinks it beats a skimboard hands down. I agree. He's been riding the board at the skyway bridge on Tampa Bay, FL.

Tom, I hope you don't mind my posting this message. If you could let everone know what you weigh, and add any other thoughts, that would be great.

Hey Trent, I've had the board out a few times, and I love it. Went out
to North Skyway yesterday and it was onshore and 7 knots. There was a
guy out on a 21M kite (machine?) and a surf board. He wasn't able to
get up wind at all....only hold ground. Then, I watched 3 more people
go out with kites from 15M - 18M with surfboard, and "big"
boards...they
failed. Some never got out at all. When the wind was about 7.5 knots,
I put up my 18M nemesis and took the Anomaly. One quick sine and I was
cruising...and not just cruising but hauling butt. Was able to
gradually get up wind, and was doing better than most of the other
(more
experienced) riders. I do not attribute this to skill, but the board.

When the wind got to about 10 knots, I dropped down to my 13M and
stayed
on the big board. This time I could easily go upwind of anyone heading
in my direction, or out run anyone coming from behind. Riding on the
board is almost too easy. Was able to do some pops off the waves and a
few small jumps (just learning to jump). Board feels great. When
changing directions it practically floats... feels like its doing the
impossible.

Nice looking boards. I bet without the fins and little to no rocker they would do even better. Fins are useless in light wind. They just add drag. It takes less than 20min to get used to riding without them, even in strong wind.

Rocker keeps the board from building the speed you need to grab that apparent wind. It is useless in light wind, not to mention harder to impliment. All that said...nice looking boards at a great price!

The rocker on the lightwind board is close to flat but not quite, I think the lift generated by the concave probably makes up for it, not to mention the concave stiffens the board up quite a bit -they're only 3/8" thick but the concave makes 'em strong too.

I dont know about finless, it's fun for cruising and better for really light wind, especially on flat water.

But in a chop fins help tremendously, trying to carve a turn on a wave or a big piece of chop they are almost a necessity (we ocassionaly get up to 10'+ chop on the great lakes, for the most part visiting saltwater paddle surfers just laugh if anyone calls them waves), and for jumps fins really do a great deal to make up for imperfect landings.

It takes a while to dial it in, but finless riding makes riding in chop and waves better in many ways, especially for transitions. There are a number of us that never use them in any condition. The only down side I have noticed is when landing jumps. You have to really focus on getting the edge set right away when you touch down. However, not all boards work well finless. It really helps when the board has flex, especially in the tips, and when the rails are fairly strait or even side cut. A really strong convex rail shape will make finless riding difficult.

Hi Danielillo,

FedEx quotes me $196.50 USD to send a 150x46 board to Spain. For something this bulky, they charge by the size, not weight, so I could send two boards for just a slightly higher price than one.

Fed-ex takes only 3-5 days so the price is high. I can not seem to find an international shipping service that has lower prices and lower cost. If anyone has any ideas on a cheaper shipping service please let me know!

I'll try to find a friend and buy two (or maybe three) boards at the same time
